Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Not only for Adult Educators !
Review: This book was written not only for the experienced adult educator but for anyone interested in learning about designing your own course or system. This is a practical book. Houle reviews a history of program design along with five case studies that illustrate the model that he proposes. His model presents a detailed analysis of 11 categories of possible educational activities along with the details of his 7-step system of program design. This book is well-written and practical. His focus ranges from the individual program to mass audiences. I especially like the chapter on "Mastering a Personal System of Practice" which helps the reader translate the system into a useful and practical one. Overall, I think that it is an excellent book and highly recommend it as a worthwhile addition to an educator's library.
