Rating: Summary: For love or money Review: Dr. Snyderman is right on target. Like so many women before us, we often make an unconscious choice of putting love before everything else. How else could you explain our inability to see what our spouses are doing behind our backs (but really in front of our noses)? It took me and Dr. Snyderman years to realize that if we didn't take responsibility for things we could never control our destinies. I too had money issues until I followed "Margaret's" book recommendation. "SIMPLE MONEY SOLUTIONS: 10 Ways You Can Stop Feeling Overwhelmed By Money and Start Making It Work For You," really did work for me. I didn't even know what I didn't know about money. This book has shown me the way to financial freedom. Coupled with "NECESSARY JOURNEYS," I feel like I am finally getting a chance to take charge of my destiny and lead the life I was placed on this earth for.
Rating: Summary: Necissary Journeys Review: Having known Nancy, through working for her father, I always envied her beauty, poise and kindness, and of course her statis. My own mother seemed prouder of the fact that Nancy was from Fort Wayne, then she was of me being her own daughter. Being addicted to self-help books, and trying to make myself the best I could be. Nancy's book touched me in a way no other has. I always assumed she had, had a life of priviladge and ease. One without struggles or harsh desitions. I am at a crossroad in my own life and reading it has given me the confidence to step beyond, and look to the future with a bit more confidence, in the good things that my future may hold for me. It's helped me be less depressed and alone. Just knowing that everyone has problems to endure, even Nancy, has helped me focus beyond my prolems, to a solution and a good future. The book came into my life at just the right moment. Thank you Joy and Sue for telling me I HAD to read this book.
Rating: Summary: Hoping for a biography Review: I enjoyed the biographical portions of this book, but was disappointed that more than half of the book was written in the format of "self help." I wish Dr. Snyderman had stuck to telling her story and "showing" us her journey as a woman rather than "explaining" about women's lives.
Rating: Summary: I've Admired Her For Years, My Admiration Grows Review: I have admired this lovely, intelligent, talented and humorous woman on television for a number of years. She has always seemed to be someone you could know, would like to know. She has such an easy, gentle manner about her on tv and her book is so easy to read that it seems like she is talking to you on the phone or face to face. She bears her soul and shows that good can come out of painful events. I admire her all the more for the courage she has shown in sharing the painful and difficult times of her life, and how she has learned from them. I think this book can teach other women a great deal about life, its ups and downs and give women hope that they, too, can overcome adversity.
Rating: Summary: Good book but a little disappointing Review: I used to watch GMA. I still remember the show when her son "Charlie" was at the show. So when I came across this book, I could not help reading it. I liked the way, Nancy speaks about "Self" and how certain incidents can mar that and the journey we have to take to reclaim it ( or rather experience it for the first time in some cases ). It is helpful. I expected this book to be more like an autobiography, but it is not. At certain places in the book, while I was curious to know what happened, the chapter would go on and on about what what a woman should do and should not do. That was disappointing. In the acknowledgements ( or towards the end of the book ), there is no mention of Doug, so that left me wondering about the marriage.

Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: I wish this book had been around when I was going through my own devastating divorce. I felt so alone, humiliated and like a failure. The worst part was I was letting down kids and my parents and I didn't know where to turn for help or how to take back control of my life. Soon after my husband left us the creditors started calling. He had charged up a storm and then filed for bankruptcy, leaving me responsible for all of his bills. I've been struggling for years to pay off his debts. A few months ago I started reading the book, SIMPLE MONEY SOLUTIONS: 10 WAYS YOU CAN STOP FEELING OVERWHELMED BY MONEY AND START MAKING IT WORK FOR YOU," that I also saw on GOOD MORNING AMERICA. The author, Nancy Lloyd, has shown me what I should have known about money. Every woman needs to take responsibility for her finances -- and to teach our children how money and credit work before they leave home -- because at some point most of us are without a man around the house. Both books are lifesavers!

Rating: Summary: Truly Necessary Journey's Review: Nancy's book is the best I have read in years. She has an uncanny ability to bring you along with her on her life journey; shedding tears and feeling her joy. Every woman will be able to connect with her at any stage in her life. Nancy is no longer an author of a book, but a personal friend that I have shared hours with. I truly hope she pens more books of this type. I have bought 4 as gifts, and I will enjoy reading this again. Thank you Nancy.
