Rating: Summary: A must read, more than reference Review: Yes, I'm a desperate parent. However, having 17 years in the law business (and make no mistake, law is BIG business) I'm not the typical parent. I know my rights. Most parents, sadly, don't.Dean's book is a wonderful starting point. The ONLY reason I don't rate it the ONLY starting point is because he, rightfully, had to write for everyone, not just those of us in Florida. Terms and laws are different for each state, therefore it had to be more broad in scope than narrowed to a specific state. The best thing about this book is that you learn: YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Child theft, for whatever reason - a divorce or a disgruntled neighbor -- is big business, bigger than law. It's (as I write, 2002) a $12 BILLION (yes, that's a B) a year business nationally. States collect money from the federal government for each child they steal from parents. Statistically, you stand a better chance of losing your child to the "system" than you do of having a car wreck. This is a must-have if you ever get involved in the system. Know a family law lawyer? Buy this book for them. Know a family law judge? Buy this book for them. Know a LEO (law enforcement officer)? Buy this book for them. Know a parent or a parent-to-be? Buy this book for them. It can save hours and hours of anguish because even though you THINK you know the system -- you don't. The child stealing system is different than any other legal system in the country, and don't be fooled. You have NO civil rights if you get caught in this hell. False accusations are the most common kind. IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU! This book will help!
