Summary: The Sopranos in real life...
Review: "Made Men" by Greg B. Smith, is everything I hoped it would be when I bought it. When I bought the book I wanted to read into what the Sopranos were really like, and the book did just that. The book follows the small crime family of the DeCavalcantes. I felt like I was reading about the Sopranos (at times even people in the DeCavalcantes thought the Sopranos were based around them) but this had more details then the Sopranos because it was real. In the book the Author included real conversations between people in the DeCavalcantes crime family, which only added to the overall effect of the book. At the the begining the DeCavalcantes crime family were small times guys making their way up in the the crime world, and towards the end they were falling apart left and right. Everything in between was a delight to read. If you are a fan of the Sopranos or anything related to the Mob I highly suggest you pick this book up to get a better feel of what the Mob was really like...

Summary: $6.99, how can you go wrong?
Review: I paid $6.99 for this little book. The idea of life imitating art imitating life was a real well done exploration. The author definitely had his facts together, and I never doubted his facts were anything but "the gospel." Yeah, maybe I didn't care that much about the characters, but that's because they were described as they really are. Very violent and dangerous people. This book might not be earth shattering, however, it's no waste of time for people that like the real grit.

Summary: They didn't just talk Sopranos, the DeCavalcantes lived it.
Review: If you like the Sopranos, you will love this book. Greg B. Smith writes about the DeCavalcante crime family. They are the most powerful mob family in Jersey. You hear of the more popular families such as the Gambinos, the Colombos, the Bonnanos, the Genovese and the Luchese family. I love how they talk about all these families and the capos in each of them. My favorite capo in the book is John Gotti of the Gambino crime family. Vinny Ocean, the Boss of the DeCavalcante family, has problems with his underboss Joey O Masella because he uses his money to buy coke, marijuana and extasy. Vinny Ocean is the most respected and feared man in Jersey, owning his own casino boat, many restaurants is NY and NJ and has his own Strip club called Wiggles. I have a feeling that Vinny is going to whack Joey O. I will definitely read another one of his books. I can't wait until I finish this book to find out what happens.

Summary: What a boring, horrible read
Review: This book was a boring piece of trash. A child with a 6th grade education could have written a better book. The information was all over the place and quite inaccurate...

Summary: La cosa nostra of New Jersey for the meddigan...
Review: This is one of the worst books ever written about the organazied crime. Factual mistakes, event missinterpetation, misspelled names - few examples from the bundle of errors Mr. Smith makes. Lot of references on the Sopranos and the guy misspelles GOOMAR. Vincent "Chin" Gigante's name, according to Smith, comes from his name Vincenzo - man, have you at least seen the guys picture? Look at his CHIN! I can't possibly list everything that is wrong with this book....it's just that the entire book is wrong.

Don't waste your time or money...

Summary: If you are missing your Sopranos Fix, Read This Now
Review: ``Made Men,'' by Greg B. Smith is a real page turner. Small time crime at its best, this book describes a family that could and may be the real Sopranos, and reading it is like watching an episode -- only funnier. These bumbling mobsters get in and out of scams throughout Brooklyn, Queens, New Jersey and Staten Island and the book provides an illuminating look at what is left of the mafia today. A quick, fun read, filled with vivid details and lively writing.
