Rating: Summary: Thank You, President Bush - Book Review Review: According to their web site,
"World Ahead Publishing is a privately held company based in California dedicated to publishing high quality books, articles, and other content focusing on the major economic, political, and security issues of the 21st century.
World Ahead Publishing believes that freedom is the inalienable right of all human beings and that the free market can be a powerful catalyst for spreading liberty in the 21st century. But this outcome is by no means a foregone conclusion-individual freedom and the institutions that make it possible face risks from powerful and reactionary interests. "
In pursuit of this philosophy, World Ahead decided, in the words of its President Eric M. Jackson, that this book was too important not to publish, regardless of profit and loss models. It is, unabashedly a promotional work, citing President George W. Bush for the successes of his first term, and projecting what he should and hopefully will do in a successful second term. It contains a total of 24 chapters, with essays contributed by notables such as Stephen Moore and Phyllis Schlafly, and includes speeches by George Schultz, Richard Cheney and Bill Bennett. They cover in some significant detail, President Bush personally, his actions in foreign, economic, and social policy, as well as his view of the role of the law in government and society.
While detractors will argue that this is just another piece of propaganda, the overall tone of the book is scholarly in virtually all respects. The facts and figures are well documented, with source material cited, hard numbers provided where necessary, and it is conceivable that this book could serve as an excellent reference on events and accomplishments of the years 2000 - 2004. In fact, it may actually become too high-brow in the section on economics where Arthur Laffer and Aman Verjee spend a significant amount of time on number crunching, with accompanying charts and graphs. Still, one of the major bones of contention about the first Bush term has been economic performance. Laffer and Verjee take this situation well in hand.
Also providing excellent material are Star Parker on welfare reform, Marvin Olasky on faith based public charities, and Candice Jackson on George Bush as a feminist. But in this reviewer's opinion, where this compilation really shines the brightest is in the piece written by Dr. Jack Wheeler, entitled "Aeschylus and America." Dr. Wheeler, who holds a PhD in Philosophy, cuts and Indiana Jones style figure in real life, having traveled world wide, studies primitive tribes and worked with underground groups bent on promoting freedom and individual rights in regions dominated by authoritarian systems.
This article traces the history of democracy back to its roots in ancient Greece, which faced numerous challenges including two invasions by Persia that had a significant effect on the Greek psyche. Walker compares America's moon landing of 1969 with the Greek victories at Marathon and Salamis, which led to self-doubt when it should have let to confidence. He asserts that America today must overcome self-doubt and the need for the approval of others in the same way that Greece did, paving the way for the Athens of Pericles. This single item is owning, regardless of the additional excellent material this volume contains.
In short, Thank You, President Bush should be considered a highly recommended book as a testimonial to this President's first term, as a reference on his accomplishments, and also, probably as its editors intended, as a tool for showing exactly why Mr. Bush should be re-elected, which is a recurring them through most of the chapters.

Rating: Summary: This is really good Review: I am not easily impressed, but this book rules. It gives us a viewpoint on President George W. Bush other than the one provided us by CNN (...). Read it as soon as you can; you won't be sorry!
Rating: Summary: A Laudatory Record of the Past Four Years Review: In the weeks following the Democratic National Convention, John Kerry and John Edwards have been trying to purport a "positive campaign" while simultaneously telling Americans how dismal the state of the union is. Echoing the sentiment of John Kerry during his acceptance speech, saying they are the "positive campaign," doesn't make it so. One thing is for sure, Democrats and their supporters have the wrong idea about what positive means, and lack the capacity to realize that it is their hate driven agenda that is the true divider in this country.
For real optimism, you need look no further than the Bush campaign and the vast number of Bush supporters who see greatness, not despair, in the present, and in the days ahead. Finally, there is a book that captures that positive energy. Within the pages of "Thank You, President Bush," are the words of some of today's preeminent conservative thinkers, authors and public servants. This book provides a refreshing contrast to the anti-Bush rhetoric that pollutes the airwaves and the bookshelves of fine bookstores across America.
"Thank You, President Bush" serves as a laudatory record of the past four years of the Bush Administration, substantiated with the one thing liberals detest most: facts. In discussing the reality of today's most important issues, the contributors are not fueled by blind faith. Rather, these are highly researched and thorough examinations of the true state of the economy, the successes of our foreign policy, the achievements in social policy, and a profound look at the remarkable character of President Bush.
This book is vastly different than the efforts of the Liberal Left. While the likes of Michael Moore, Al Gore, the Hollywood "elite" and MoveOn.org are driven by hate and the desire to defame President Bush, the works featured within the pages of "Thank You, President Bush" provide well-educated, factual, optimistic and thought provoking analyses of how President Bush has made our country a better place to live, and how the President has risen above the endless stream of attacks against his character, faith, and policies.
There is no better time for a book of this nature than today. Before voters go to the polls in November, it is our duty to be familiar with the truth that is not seen on TV or read in the newspapers or on the Internet. The editors and contributors have done a great service to the truth-seeking public by providing a comprehensive anthology that details why George W. Bush will be remembered as one of the most paramount presidents of the century.
Rating: Summary: Truth is a precious and rare thing. Review: In this day and time with the media chomping at the bit to spew out lies regarding our president, the authors of this fine book, THANK YOU,PRESIDENT BUSH, have done a remarkable job in setting forth the truth about the vital contributions that George W. Bush has made to America and to the whole world. Rod Martin, Aman Verjee, and the rest of the authors have made us proud of our country, and our Commander in Chief. This is a must read for all Americans.
Rating: Summary: I wanted to be the first reviewer! Review: My only regret about having read this book is that I wasn't the first one to review it on Amazon!
This is a collection of essays written by some of the most influential conservative leaders in America. Its central theme is the achievements of President Bush over the last four years. The essays make an excellent case for the re-election of our President. This was absolutely the best political book of the year. Its clear, concise wording helps to cut through all of the b.s. that is out there bashing George Bush. I'm glad to this book because the media cannot be trusted to report the truth! Thank You, President Bush gives me the information I need come November.
Editors Aman Verjee, Rod D. Martin, etc. are true American heroes. Thank you gentlemen - and thank you, Mr. President.
Rating: Summary: Excellent work! Review: Rod D. Martin, Aman Verjee, Jeb Bush, and all the others who contributed to this book are doing a great service to the American people. We need to know more about what our great conservative president has done for us, and this is perhaps the greatest single way to find that out. THANK YOU PRESIDENT BUSH is one of the best books of the year - no, THE BEST book of the year, and the must own book for those of us intent on voting for the right man in the 2004 general presidential election.
Rating: Summary: Finally an Answer for those tired of the Anti-Bush Books Review: Thank You, President Bush is an impressive collection of essays from the nation's leading conservative, republican and libertarian scholars and politicians that reads well for people of all political persuations. I liked how each expert spoke directly on his or her subject of expertise in the content of the President's 1st term. Each essay was both informative and well written. I would recommend this book for anyone that is closely following the election. For Republicans this is a must-read because it will be quite enjoyable. For Moderates and undecided voters this book serves to distinctly educate the reader on the President's progress on the entire realm of political issues. For Liberals this book will read as a workshop in conservative politics and, more importantly, a look inside the hearts and minds of President Bush and his supporters. Thank You, President Bush should help to define the election choice for all people. It should also broaden and make more accessible the real issues and causes that the President has championed during his first term. This book is a great answer to all the Anti-Bush mudslinging books which have become both boring and passe.
Rating: Summary: An honest presentation of facts about #43 Review: This collection of 24 essays is loaded with facts, figures, analysis, and history. Though this book came out before the 2004 election, I did not read or review it until after that election.
This book is not an attack on liberals, it's not Bush marketing material, it's not groveling Bush worship, it's not fluff, and it's not hysterical. It's also not the product of the "mainstream media," who are so out of touch with the rest of America that most of us now tune them out (e.g., television viewership by males 18 to 24 is nearly zero and it's dropping for all other viewership groups as well).
Why should you read this book if you hate Bush? Because the reasons (I have heard) for hating Bush are based on misinformation, misunderstanding, and misquotations. They just don't hold up under honest analysis. It doesn't matter to me if you hate Bush. It does matter to me if you hate him based on false reasons. Now, your group conformity (feel free to look that phrase up) may be at work and the facts won't change your opinion. But, at least expose yourself to them.
For example, we heard from Ted Kennedy about the President's "reckless" economic policies, in reference to Bush's aggressive tax cuts. Ted Kennedy's own brother, JFK, implemented aggressive tax cuts. And the result was a sustained economic boom (plus the Beatles moved to the USA--yes!). Read the book, and you'll understand why this worked then, why it worked under Reagan, and why it's working now. And so it goes with topic after topic. If you are going to criticize Bush, at least don't be as obtuse about it as Teddy Kennedy is. For him, of all people, to say that is beyond absurd.
Why should you read this book if you are already a Bush supporter? Because you need to be an informed Bush supporter. If you support Bush because of group conformity, you are supporting him for the wrong reasons. His accomplishments are amazing, and you should support him because you understand what those accomplishments are and why they are so significant.
This book does have some bias. Several of the contributors may be thought of as "right wing" folks. Their main characteristic that Libertarians would object to is they want to ban abortion. But not all of the contributors share this philosophy. The book takes viewpoints from people of widely varying backgrounds and viewpoints. Some are very academic, and will give you a solid analysis of economics, complete with numbers and tables. Others talk about the President's character. Others are foreign policy experts, and they talk about that. Keep in mind that this is not a collection of propaganda from "Bushies." The experts who support Bush do so for reasons they explain in their essays.
And, of course, you'd expect some bias in the heartwarming introduction by Jeb Bush. That introduction, however, stays within the constraints of what you might expect one brother to say about another. Jeb Bush speaks as a brother, not as a person pretending to be an unbiased expert.
While I have used the word "bias" to describe some of the viewpoints, let me make it clear that I could not find one instance of misrepresentation. Honesty is an over-riding characteristic of this book. It presents viewpoints of experts, backed by verifiable facts and figures rather than scare tactics and speculation. Granted, these viewpoints are all from one side--there is not a "point - counterpoint" tone to this book. With all the Bush-bashing books in circulation, that just wasn't necessary. This book seeks to balance the imbalance by providing "the other side" to the shrill--and usually baseless--criticisms made by other books.
The book does a good job of staying out of the brainwashing business. It's a collection of essays produced not for this book, but for other purposes. The essays are merely assembled without any attempt to "interpret them" to the reader. You can thus read the part "between the ends" and draw your own conclusions.
The ends I speak of are the introduction and the concluding chapter (plus the publisher's note). The author and publisher do make a point of summing up the presented material saying what they think it all means. You should read the essays and analysis in this book before saying whether you agree or disagree.
Being torn between keeping this impressive book as a reference and passing it along to others as a beacon of truth in our current haze of disinformation, I've decided I'll have to buy a second copy. That's what I hate about well-researched books--you can't get by with just one copy.
Rating: Summary: Insightful to the core Review: Unlike several other writings that are merely bush-bash or kerry-bash, this book focuses on facts more so then the random opinions of one or two people. This books shows actual laws, quotes, records, stats, etc...I would hope all liberals would give this book a 1 star rating, because the book shows how Mr. Bush is completely opposed to their socialistic tendencies. The things he does, says, and promises are all enraging to the liberal because it clashes with their worldview. For those people out there that struggle over whether they believe Bush is a step in the right direction, I would highly encourage this book. It clears out the cobwebs of the media and gives a non-bias look at the Bush administration and what it has done. This book is extremely helpful, even if you are a liberal, it helps to see exactly what is going on in regards to the side you are against. I highly encourage this book.

Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: Verjee, Martin, Bush, et.al. did a masterful job in writing this, the must-have book for the 2004 Presidential cycle. With so many lies and distortions coming from the Kerry camp this book is a breath of fresh air. In a smoky cauldrun of half-truths. I recommend this book whole heartedly.
