Summary: INTERESTING BUT NOT HIS BEST
Review: An in-depth look at divine encounters (contacts, dreams, visions) from Sumerian, biblical and other ancient sources. This book does not have the flow of his Earth Chronicles but is interesting nevertheless. For many pages the author speculates about the Hebrew tribal deity YHWH and where it fits in amongst the Sumerian (Annunaki) gods - but the speculation is so endless that I must confess I cannot remember the conclusion he reached. Another great book in the same vein is Colin Wilson's "From Atlantis To The Sphinx."

Summary: does not answer ALL your questions
Review: At the beginning of my quest for answers to the Universe, i found sitchin's books. they are all full of intriguing ideas and possible answers to the origins of humankind on earth. i see strong hints of his theories in X-Files and the Star Trek series. and i say this as a fan of these shows.readers, keep this in mind, sitchin's works DO NOT complete your search for answers to The Origins of Life or the Universe. sitchin's works are truely interesting and can be exciting. BUT BEWARE: do not let your searchings and readings stop here with Sitchin. Continue to search for answers with more reading and research to satisfy your intellect and soul. i would suggest other authors such as Peter Russell (White Hole in Time, Global Brain) for academic and philosophical theory on the evolution of life on earth. And Ken Carey(The Third Millenium) for further answers to the cosmic origins of mankind that comes with satisfying prose on the spiritual essence and the Universe's purpose in humans. whether your try these authors and others, i hope you find other material to further your personal search for Answers.

Summary: Partial Theories...
Review: Great book with partial theories...only if he would continue to explain everything up to modern times. I don't understand how some people's intelligents were insulted, seems to me the same person who never read any of these books by Zecharia Sitchin keeps putting them down. Anyhow, read this book and any other book from Mr.Sitchin for good theories.

Summary: If you want the true reality of who we are, read this book!
Review: In short, I was raised catholic, and always wondered why the stories in the bible were so twisted. You know that it (the bible) was changed, don't you? Read Genesis again and AGAIN, further more read this book. "Let US make man in OUR image, and OUR likeness" hmmm, who were "US", sure, sure...the holy trinity, believe what you want, or you can just go burn someone at the stake for being a heathen, lol. Lies, Lies, and Lies! "God" is one such lie, not the being, the word! Its "ELOHIM" not "GOD", B'NAI ELOHIM to be precise. Try this too, read about the "Nephilim" in Genesis, and you will be scratchin your head. Ask a Rabbi to translate them for you, then get your copy of "Divine Encounters" It will change your life. Summary: A good case for the ancient astronaut theory
Review: In the 1970s, von Daniken presented the "ancient astronaut theory" or what has also been called the "Gods from outer space theory"--that what ancient man called "Gods" were really visiting being from outer space--supporting this view from an interpretation of ancient myths, legends, religious texts, and ancient monuments and artificats.
Zecharia Sitchin falls into this line of thought. He is known for his series of books on the 12th planet--where he claims a planet beyond Pluto orbits our sun and is inhabited by a race called in the Sumerian legends as the Annunaki, who genetically engineered homo sapiens here on Earth to be slaves.(Adamu means primitive worker accoring to Sitchin, and doesn't Adamu seem similiar to the name Adam?)
But this book--Divine Encounters--I think sort of stands outside the 12th Planet series. This book mainly focuses on the encounters human have had, as recorded in ancient legends and The Old Testament, with what has been traditionally cosidered to be supernatural beings like angels, but Sitchin interprets as encoutners with extra-terrestials.
For example, if they were angels, why would some of them be offered and accept food from their human hosts?
One part I found interesting was the section on the Biblical character Noah, who Sitchin all but says is a product of genetic engineering done by the extra-terrestrials. It is observed the Noah, as an infant, had unusual eyes. And, is not one of the interesting physical features of the drawings and reports of space aliens are their eyes?
It is by bringing out details in these stories, details that we have overlooked, that Sitchin makes the case for his thesis.
I found this book to be an interesting read and in some ways better than some of the books in his 12th Planet series.

Summary: Difficult
Review: Mr Sitchin's books provide an alternative world-view that is difficult at times to accept. The 12th Planet and the Lost Realms in my opinion are the best of the lot. This book is a real reach and I had extreme difficulty accepting its premise that angels are emissaries from another physical world. Perhaps if the premise were supported by scientific findings rather than strictly and purely biblical and ancients stories I'd be moved to look more seriously into the thesis. However I think Sitchin could use more work on this book to convince the average reader that angels are aliens from another planet. Sorry Mr Sitchin , I hope the Cosmis Code is more convincing than this and I trust the work is in keeping with the first and fourth books of your Earth Chronicles - a thoroughly delightful and entertaining series of books.

Some original ideas and probably a nugget of uncommon truth here and there, but this is otherwise one of the most ridiculous books I've ever read.
