Summary: A good primer for Western Culture
Review: It's a school book, primarily, and as such, how good can it be? But with lots of color and black-and-white photos, many links to online references for deeper understandings of what you want to understand, it still manages to be interesting. Some of the histories are a little shallow, which is clear after reading some of the online updates, but it's a school book. Part of the process is to gather the information and make your own deductions.
