Rating: Summary: Fantastic International Advice Review: Bill Lampton oversteps the boundaries of international business in what his book describes. We all understand that we have to be heard - even if we come from a foreign country. Bill understands that communication is a common language and helps the world develop skills to talk to one another. A book that should be read in every company over the world and in every school of economics. We only function, if we communicate!
Rating: Summary: Excellent communication tips Review: Dr. Lampton gives hundreds of communication tips that, if used on a daily basis, will enhance our personal, business, and casual relationships immensely. The book is a quick read, and serves as an excellent reminder that communication is about sharing information--not about pushing data at another human being. There isn't a person alive who couldn't benefit from the advice given in this book!
Rating: Summary: A Gold Mine for Everyone! Review: Excellent! Some of the best work I've seen on communication skills. This book belongs in everyone's personal and professional library. An outstanding communicator, speaker, and writer, Bill Lampton's clear, concise "how to" tips can make all the difference between getting the "sale," improving interpersonal relationships, and moving up the career ladder. The Complete Communicator covers the basics...and much more...of various communication topics in a straightforward, down-to-earth way. As an author, speaker and coach, I particularly enjoyed Bill's chapters on writing, giving speeches, and listening. I felt as if Bill was carrying on a conversation directly with me in his delivery. He backs up his message with powerful quotes, great stories, and personal examples that were easy to relate to. Chock-full of information and practical advice, you don't want to miss out on this gold mine. Both novices and professionals alike will benefit from the gems that you'll find in "The Complete Communicator." I highly recommend it to all.
Rating: Summary: Communication- the key to sucess Review: Good communication is the key to success in ANY profession. Dr. Bill Lampton has written a book that will help anyone be a better leader by increasing their communication skills. Good communicators learn from others and can get their ideas across to those working with them. Bill's style is extremely easy to read and he covers a variety of topics that everyone can use. His stories will charm and encourage you. As a physician and a medical journalist for 20 years, I would encourage every doctor to read this book to better serve their patients...and every patient to read to better get what they need. This is a superlative book that you'll be glad you picked up.
Rating: Summary: A Book That May Get Stolen! Review: Hang onto your copy of this book! It will disappear when those around you get a look at it. Dr. Lampton has some of the most direct, uncomplicated advice on communications that have come along in awhile. His simple, straightforward style helps even those who hate to read get a lot out of this book. His thoughts on non-verbal communication and person to person communications are particularly good for anyone, but his ideas about listening and dealing with the media are "must reads" for anyone in business and/or the corporate world. Readers and writers, just as speakers and managers, could save themselves a lot of grief if they just learned and practiced the simple techniques that Dr. Lampton advocates. As a self-syndicated columnist, I have rarely seen such clarity and depth in dealing with the complex issues of communication. Corporations could save themselves a lot of problems and headaches if they would just provide every new manager or supervisor a copy of this book and the instructions: "Read it! Learn it! Follow it!"
Rating: Summary: This book will help change your communication and results Review: If communication is the backbone of success in all business and personal transactions, then The Complete Communicator is the chiropractic adjustment you need to keep your communication backbone in tip top shape. This book will help change your communication, and your results. Entertaining and enlightening, the language is simple, direct, and packed with real-life illustrations. Dr. Lampton provides guidance on communication in cyber space, as well as on learning to communicate more effectively within our selves.
Rating: Summary: The Title Says It All Review: Interesting that the title and subtitle of this book (written by an expert communicator) communicates its exact message; that with the help of this excellent book you will in fact have the information it takes to become a complete and highly effective communicator. Technical skills are important. However, without question, all else being equal, the person who can most effectively, completely and persuasively communicate their ideas and goals will be the most successful. In "The Complete Communicator" you'll be taken through a "menu" of what you need to become what the title promises. From one-on-one to group presentations; from answering the telephone (the right way) to being a savvy listener; from nonverbal communication to using the computer, and much, much more, this is a resource that should be read by everyone. Of course, it's also a wonderful book for children to study in order to provide them with the excellent foundation they need for becoming a highly successful and complete communicator.
Rating: Summary: The "How-To" of "How-To" Communication Books Review: It's been almost three years since I first read "The Complete Communicator". Largely as a result of this remarkable little book I started, and have almost completed, writing my second book. Over the past several months I have frequently referred back to "The Complete Communicator". It's like having a writing coach available whenever I'm stuck (And, boy, do I get stuck!) This book is not just about putting words on paper. It's about writing in the context of overall excellent communications (I guess it has a rather appropriate title...). Thanks, William E. Lampton - you done good. (I don't think he would approve of that last line!)
