Summary: Great tool for educators
Review: This book is a great tool for educators who are looking for practical and effective ways of increasing their students' self-esteem and sense of personal responsibility. The authors' dedication to this worthwhile goal is clearly evident on every page of this book. Their suggested activities are well thought-out, described in helpful detail -- and really do work in the classroom.

Summary: This is an essential tool for teachers who really care
Review: This book is a toolbook. A compendium of practical strategies for teachers who understand the relationship between the developing self-concept of young people and how well those young people handle the often trying and challenging processes involved in learning. School can be exasperating, confusing, frightening --- as well as exhilarating, enabling, freeing, empowering. Even the best teacher's efforts with a student can be sabotaged by that student's own self-doubts and fears of failure. Here is a book that helps teachers find ways to help students explore and heal their self-esteem and find renewed strengths to deal with the stresses of school.

I wish I had this book thirty years ago when I was working with high school students. I highly recommend it. The person who managed to post the same negative review TWICE (Is Amazon reading any of these things?) probably either didn't read the book, has a personal problem of some kind or simply has no teaching experience at all. I've been a teacher, a social worker, a professor of educational psychology --- an educator with nearly forty years of experience. This is a GREAT book!

Summary: DON'T BUY IT
Review: THIS BOOK IS ABSOLUTLY TERRIBLE, I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMEND NOT SPENDING ANY TIME OR MONEY ON THIS. I HAVE READ SOME HORRIBLE BOOKS IN MY DAY BUT THIS ONE TAKES THE CAKE HANDS DOWN!
