Summary: A useful resource for political studies on India
Review: Brass' book is full of information for both beginning and advanced scholars interested in Indian politics and political expression. While some chapters such as "Parties and Politics" give useful factual information, other chapters delve into more theoretical issues of nationalism and social change. This book should be read by anyone interested in Indian politics.
