Summary: A to Z In Top Level Essays
Review: The end of the Cold War has generated volumes of essays, books, and data as experts rush in to figure out why the end was not cataclisymic, and where the world going in terms of War. To the novice or dilitante in this field, the collection of essays Handbook II summarizes several aspects of the current debates on war and peace studies at a modest level of detail, within a readable size, and without having to own a library and dozens of subscriptions to professional journals. It covers very current topics such as terrorism and ethnic conflicts as well as the age-old arguments on balance of power. It also has organized all the referenced works into a gold-mine bibliography almost 100 pages long - giving new researchers and students a wonderful starting point for deeper digging.

Not a Tom Clancy read, but if you want fact, not fiction, it is great start on the theories about why we fight war.
