Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Multicultural Meltdown
Review: This book is full of essays by educators from different time periods and cultures in this past century. E.D. Hirsch, James Baldwin, Frieire, Elizabeth Cady Stanton along with many others talk about various realms of education--from schooling to cultural oppression, funding, equality, women in education and a plethora of other topics. This book is great to catch a glimpse of various opinions and some articles are very popular in their own right. It is a great book for people learning about different viewpoints in education, but it is not a book to read as if it were a course unless the instructor formulated the whole course around the book. There are so many topics and issues that a person could have a hard time figuring out what to discuss. It is fabulous for those who need to broaden their horizons in terms of learning about educational writers in the past hundred years.
