Summary: Dear Burger Flipper....
Review: The book does assume some technical background, but you were not even close to reading the correct book (or taking the correct test) if you wish to make web pages. I think you were thinking of the i-Net+ certification. It is more related to the Internet than networking concepts. This book does a good job at giving what you need to pass the Network+ exam and to help you get your foot in the door to starting your career.

Summary: Good Book
Review: This book was the core study guide I used for passing the Network+ exam. Over a period of about 6 months I read it 3 times cover to cover. I then went through it again about a week before and basically memorized a whole bunch of stuff I figured would be on the exam. You must understand that almost every page in this book has something you'll actually see on the exam. I liked that a lot. Many books have a whole bunch of theory and irrelevant history...who cares! I want a certification. This will get you there, plus you'll take to memory some essential things you'll need to work as a network tech and throughout your career in IT.
The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because I would have liked to have had more practice questions included on the CD. Of course, I could have purchased more for a fee on their web site...please! Oh well, caveat emptor.

Summary: Great Book
Review: Took the Net+ exam 3 days ago and received a 780/900 (646 is passing) on the exam. This book covers all the pertinent information on the exam. I read the book twice, in order to absorb all the information; but only a couple of weeks prepping for the test before test day was enough; combined with the practice tests that came with the discounted voucher I purchased off the Total seminars website. I recommend this and the A+ certification passports from Mike Meyers. Some of their other books are outdated and/or inadequate, but these two are perfect if you're willing to memorize the important information that they give you to pass the test.
