Rating: 5 stars
Summary: the best reference available
Review: The book description above is a reliable guide to the contents covered in the book. The author minimizes the use of jargon and enters the subject gradually and clearly. While he seems mainly interested in refuting the contention that self-deception is as easily dismissed as most philosophers think, in his detailed exploration of the subject a reader unfamiliar with that particular debate can still become very informed.

The subject of self-deception is as important as it is difficult to address in book form. All the reader needs is a suspicion that there's more going on in one's mind than is readily available to conscious thought, and then this book helps open a personal exploration of what's really going on in mental processes.

Finding references in this area has been a difficult process. This is the best reference I could find after much effort. It was definitely worth the effort.
