While he seems mainly interested in refuting the contention that self-deception is as easily dismissed as most philosophers think, in his detailed exploration of the subject a reader unfamiliar with that particular debate can still become very informed.

The subject of self-deception is as important as it is difficult to address in book form. All the reader needs is a suspicion that there's more going on in one's mind than is readily available to conscious thought, and then this book helps open a personal exploration of what's really going on in mental processes.

Finding references in this area has been a difficult process. This is the best reference I could find after much effort. It was definitely worth the effort.
