Rating: Summary: This is a Must-Buy Review: Anyone who birds in Texas should own a copy of this book. Mr. Seyffert is the acknowledged expert on field ornithology in the Panhandle region of Texas, covering 26 counties and thousands of square miles.
For anyone who wants to bird or explore the Panhandle, this book is the key to species status and distribution. It is thorough, and you'll find yourself referring to it over and over again as you bird the region. The book has county breakdowns of bird species, which is very helpful when you've seen a bird and are trying to get a sense of how common it is for your county. I can't say enough about the usefulness and enjoyment I've gotten out of this book.
The book is not a field guide, but a description of which species occur here now (and historically), with records of late and early arrivals. It is well-written, illuminating, and a significant contribution to our knowledge of the bird life of the Panhandle.
This book is worth every penny.
