Review: For anyone who appreciates these curious, gentle and interactive creatures, this book is a joy to read. There is conspicuously little written about otters, mainly due to their reclusive nature. As mankind encroaches upon their habitats more and more, it is essential that we seek greater insight into their lives. The McCaskills have created one of the only books about otters that is non-technical, depicting the otters' lives with realism, compassion, and the respect and consideration that they are not often given. It reads like a novel, and is based upon many years of first-hand observation.
