Rating: Summary: A geographer's keen perception of how to protect our coasts Review: I studied with Prof. Klee 15 years ago at San Jose State and his passion for protecting the coastal environment was as strong then as it is now; this book exhibits that love for the discipline of applying a multi-pronged environmental studies approach to the coast's 'wet and dry' sides. The book takes an eclectic geographer's assessment of the problems facing this precious environment. Good case studies -marine sanctuary, sloughs, creek pollution, oil extraction, hazards--are taken from the Monterey Bay area where Klee lives and has witnessed the various impacts he knows so well. Planners, scientists, politicians (not to mention public librarians in Santa Cruz county who should have this in the local collection!) and citizens who don't mind a textbook format would greatly benefit from this title. Our coasts will also benefit from having well-informed decision makers who NEED mutiple angles to view and protect this resource. Go Gary!
