Summary: One of the Best Marine Bio Field Guides
Review: The Voss book is one of the absolute best field guides for marine study in the Bahamas and the Florida Keys. A superb description for high school students and college, Voss includes magnificent black line drawings that, though they are not in color, are quite specific enough to secure the identification of the specimens you are looking at. In addition to the drawings are useful descriptions of the organisms and a section on marine grasses and algae. The book also has a few color plates as an added plus. I have been teaching marine biology for over 20 years and this book is a required source for our classes. The only thing that would make this book better would be a more expanded section on mollusks, though cephalopods and nudibranchs are included.
