Rating: Summary: Dave Workman have an agenda? Never! Review: As owner of D&D Gunleather (which proudly proclaims: EVEN A BARRETT .50 CALIBER BMG CARRIED IN A DAVE WORKMAN HOLSTER CAN BE SO COMFORTABLE THAT YOU MAY FORGET THAT YOU ARE CARRYING 28 POUNDS OF ORDINANCE ON YOUR BELT), a senior editor at Gun Week magazine, ex-NRA director and life-NRA member, oft quoted and touted at packing.org and other various weaponry/paranoia-build-a-bunker-in-the-bakyard-so-them-liberals-don't-steal-my-guns sites - there'd be no reason at all to suspect his modus operandi is anything other than pursuit of truth, right?
In fact for a man whose passion in life is making holsters of leather to conceal mighty weaponry for the lay person perusing the "dangerous" streets of our American cities, and of course - whose favorite recreation is hunting animals - it would seem this equation were no more simple than 2+2...
Surely, this magnum opus - this confrontation of the root of all liberal evil - the idea that equality should be extended (god-forbid) to all beings is an affront to an individual whose livlihood embraces speciesism whole-heartedly.
Does that make for an honest an unbiased account of PETA's agenda? Or a recount of a few secular activies, a sweeping generalization that the animal lib movement is awash with terroristic activities, and an all-American fear fest.
There's nothing original about fear; and this sort of narrow work can rely on little else to convince its readers that there is more than a grain of truth to an idea that boils down to simple ethical and moral differences.
Rating: Summary: This book sucks!! Review: Don't read this piece of garbage!!! Spend your money elsewhere.
Rating: Summary: Terrible writing Review: Hard to get thru because of bad writting style. Also, to much name calling and not enough hard facts. I was looking for an unbiased work and instead recieved the opposite.
Rating: Summary: Addendum Review: I note, also with interest, that none of the detracting "reviewers" had the gumption to put a name/address to their missives. Worth thinking about, given the revelations in Workman's book. Read and ponder, for the open minded, it will be worth the effort.

Rating: Summary: Read it for yourself Review: I should just let the original review stand as an example of irony. To employ phoney typed German accent and then accuse the book of "bigotry" is an entertaining bit of self mockery. But in case any of you missed the nice little sign the guy was holding up saying "mind closed, nothing I don't already know is true", you might want to look past the first review and check the book for yourself. But, since the writer didn't talk about the book I will: It's a quick read full of verifiable facts about the darker side of the animal rights movement. Want to believe the self mocking reviewer that such a side doesn't exist? Get the book and decide for yourself. ELF, Animal Liberation Front, these groups have destroyed businesses and endangered human life (Rainier bank building, DFW facility attacks, the Urban horticulture center) and their agenda is about a lot more then saving fluffy bunnies. Check it out; PETA files is a good read.
Rating: Summary: Houston, "open minds?" Review: It is interesting to note that the star rating on this book has been heavily stacked by supporters of PETA. It is even more important to note that these selfsame "reviewers" (A questionable term, as the writers seem more engaged in preaching rather than reviewing) all urge open-mindedness while reading THEIR recommendations, the very attribute they failed to exercise in reading 'PETA Files.' Workman presents an array of well researched data, along with statements made by the principals of PETA and other such groups. These statements are often in contradiction of others made by the same people/organizations, and certainly in contradiction of exhibited behavior by said groups. The single most important (to my mind) point made in the books is the distinction between an "Animal Rights" group and an "Animal Welfare" organization. It is clear that, at the very bottom line, the "Animal Rights" crowd has zero concern for the actual well being of animals. Dave isn't writing a Clancy thriller, he's making a report based on FACT. The complaints about "writing style," "piece of garbage," "lies, bigotry and slander [sic]" and the blatant hatred shown in the reviews is more telling of the attitudes of PETA (and associates) than anything that might be printed in Workman's book. Even more telling for those who complained about the quality of writing are the errors in spelling, grammar and general ignorance of the language displayed by such "reviewers." I recommend the book to anyone who prefers fact over hyperbole.

Rating: Summary: The Little Yellow Chicken Review: Read the book. It IS worth it. Help a PETA person with the big words. We know it won't help, but we will have done our good and gentle deed for the day. Maybe they won't go out and kill, rape, pillage and burn in their self-loathing.
