Description:

Carry along this eminently readable--and portable--fly-fishing tip sheet the next time you're on the water. If the hatch is off or you find yourself taking a break on the banks, flip it open to any page. Arranged like a collection of Zen koans, this advice from the pros is practical, often lyrical, and always useful. Here's a random sampling. Ed Shenk: "The sun can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Did you ever notice while fishing with the sun in front of you that your results were poor? And fishing the same water at another time of day brought excellent results? It could be that the sun was reflecting off your rod or other equipment and alerting the fish." Paul Marriner: "Fish holding in pockets have but an instant to make a take-or-refuse decision. Occasionally, hatch matching may be necessary, but more often a large attractor fly is best." No revelations here, but little reminders can make a big difference.
