Summary: A thorough examination of Svalbard
Review: Having just returned from a holiday on Svalbard (the accurate name of the island archipelago that includes the largest island, Spitsbergen), I can attest to its overall accuracy. It centers its overview on Longyearbyen, the largest community on the island, and the start for any other excursion in Svalbard.

I have to admit, though, it's already a bit out of date. This book is a translation from the original German, and the second edition was compiled several years ago. The book is a good starting place, but if you head to Svalbard, you'll want to use a travel agent, the internet, or directly call companies listed in the book to update the information there.
