Summary: I f I only had one guide, this would be it!!
Review: I am an avid mule deer hunter and an even more avid reader. I have easily read more than fifty books and guides on hunting both mule and whitetail deer. Dwight Schuh has written what I believe to be the "handbook of all hanndbooks" on hunting mule deer that everyone should own! Many hunting books are vague and tell only of the great hunts and trophies that the author or his associates have harvested. Dwight Schuh's book is the complete opposite. His book is written as if you are sitting together by a camp fire and talking about what he believes are the essentials to hunting the mule deer. He includes errors he made as well as the tactics that work. It is a "real" hunting book with invaluable information. So many of the examples I would read and say to myself, "Yep, I've definately experienced that!" At this stage in my hunting and reading career, I didn't think I would ever find a book that could teach me so much and be so easy to understand. I have read through it several times and it now looks like a reference book with all the highlighted areas and writing in the margins. I would like nothing more than to be able to communicate with Dwight Schuh on a professional hunting level; if not only to gain more insight into the mule deer and it's behavior than to build an even deeper respect for a tophy animal that gives me life!

Summary: Very good book
Review: I enjoyed this book immensly. I used some of his tactics this season and it was "succesful." I saw more deer this year than in any other year using the tactics from the book. However, I blew my chance which is no fault of the authors.

You will enjoy the book and find the tactics useful.

Good Hunting!

Summary: the most comprehensive book on hunting mule deer
Review: I have been hunting mule deer for the last fifteen years. I read this book after hunting these deer for about eight or so years. I have found it to be the most complete book available about finding and stalking mule deer. It also goes indepth in equipment, scouting, tactics that really work and hunting the different seasons. Schuh bowhunts but this book can be used by all hunters, rifle and bow. It also will help you narrow down areas in which to hunt if you are going to an area you've never been before. You will maximize hunting time by learning where to start looking. It will cut down wandering all over the mountains looking for deer that usually are in small pockets. If planning an out of state hunt or just starting out hunting, this book is worth its weight in gold. I can not say enough positive things about this book. Schuh also publishes other books that are extremely well written and easy to read as well as useful.

Summary: Solid Read
Review: This is a solid read with excellent examples of the information provided for someone like me who is on the verge of their first western hunts. There is nothing fancy or high dollar here at all, which I found very refreshing in this world of magazine articles where thousands of dollars paid at a fenced in farm allows trophy "hunting". It is a book that I will read again.
