Summary: My First Elephant Primer...
Review: "Elephants: The Deciding Decade" was one of the first elephant books I purchased. At the time I did not know much about elephants. This was a great book for me to "cut my baby teeth" on with regards to its vast overview of elephants: their history, social structure--herds and family groups. It did a good job of discussing young elephants and their behaviors and maturation. It also had some unique topics (I won't spoil it by saying what they were) that I have not seen in the many, many elephant books I've read since. This edition has pertinent updates necessary to know about if one is really serious about elephants and their futures. One of the true joys of this book was the excellent photography. The level of reading is technical at times, yet easily understood for the most part. A must for the true "elephanatic's" book collection!
