Summary: Rather elementary text with a deceptive title
Review: As a professor who teaches courses on environmental conflict resolution, I acquired this book with great anticipation to find a new text for my students. Alas, this book was an utter disappointment. First, it assumes the title of "environmental conflict" clearly to reach a popular audience when the substance of the book is almost entirely about economic concepts for high school or freshman college courses. The publisher should make this more clear in marketing the book, since there is an entire field of environental conflict resolution to which this book has little relevance.

As far as the coverage of economic conepts is concerned, the redeeming feature of the book is that it presents these concepts in a freindly (though opften trite) way. The coverage of these concepts is perhaps intentionally superficial. This book would have been better suited as a supplement to a commercial text book rather than as a stand-alone volume from a generally respectable university press.
