Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Highly Readable for any scientist
Review: The authors (Bruce Malamud, Don Turcotte, and John Pelletier) should be congratulated on their clear exposition of this important subject. A more readable treatment of 'memory' in time series is not to be found.

Arguably, society supports geophysicists to tease apart the complex processes responsible for present and past geophysical phenomena in order to predict future events --and in the case of natural hazards (floods, climate change, sea level, earthquakes, asteroid impacts, etc.) to help mitigate their effects. To this end, geophysicists must first discriminate between the signal and the noise in their observations (data). This volume addresses this age-old requirement.
