Review: I picked this book at the Monterrey Bay Aquarium in the summer of 1995, during my first visit to the california coast, and just before I did a couple of days of scuba diving in the local waters. This book is small, almost pocket-sized, certainly easy to transport and provides illustrations of the most conspicuous fishes (e.g surf perches, kelp bass, rockfishes) but I saw many other fishes not covered in this guide and decided to get a Peterson guide when I went diving in San Diego/ La Jolla the following year.
