Review: The Range Plant Handbook, prepared by the U.S. Forest Service and first published in 1937, is still a very valuable reference for grasses and grass-likes, forbs, and shrubs. It is useful for identification of the key range plants in the westers U.S, but for me, it has been especially useful for management implications such as paltability, use in seeding, season-of-use, resistance to grazing, etc. I recommend this book to anyone involved in range management.
