Summary: Not a criticism, just an observation
Review: Although many of the sentiments and promises in this book are sweet and important and wonderful, there are comments in this book that alienate the mixed faith family. I realize that this book was written for the Christian family, but not one of the reviews even mentions how explicitly Christian it is. In my view that is an oversight, this is a book that has two equally strong themes, the promises a Daddy makes and the promises that Christians believe Jesus made. It will be a wonderful fit for many home libraries, but not ours.

Summary: A superbly illustrated, enchanting picturebook.
Review: Author Kerry Arquette knows the value of a promise kept. Daddy Promises is a wonderful picturebook story of children and their fathers, and the bonds of love, protection, teaching, sharing, listening, playing that mark their relationship with each other and with God. Arquette's enchanting story is superbly illustrated throughout by the splendid artistry of Kevin McCain. Highly recommended.

Summary: Meaningful Book
Review: Daddy Promises is a treasure. Beautiful illustrations, touching and poignant text and a meaningful message. Kerry Arquette's book captures the wonderul bond between parent and child and being a child of God.

It establishes and reaffirms a child's belief in the safety of the harbor of their father's love and protection. It is a wonderful gift for Father's Day, Baby Dedication or Baptism, or a new father.

Summary: A Perfect Gift For Dads!
Review: DADDY PROMISES makes a wonderful gift for dads. I just gave a copy to a friend who has recently become a dad. He loves the book, and his daughter couldn't take her eyes off of the illustrations. My hat is off to Kevin McCain who drew the most touching pictures of dads and their children that I have ever seen. And, to Kerry Arquette who knows what promises dads can make, and how special they are to their children.Don't miss this book. It's a treasure for dads and their children.

Summary: #1 Gift for Dads this holiday season
Review: Showed the book to a friend who immediately sent one to his son-in-law. It's a perfect gift. Few books that read so quickly, can mean as much. And, the illustrations are unique. A great package.

Summary: I love that this book is touching so many hearts
Review: Study after study show how important a daddy is in a child's life. Good fathers nurture, discipline, guide, listen and distribute hugs enough to heal a multitude of childhood hurts. Good fathers make and keep promises to their kids and that builds trust. DADDY PROMISES provides a map for dads who are just beginning their journey into parenthood. I'm told that new dads are being given the book as baby gifts. Established fathers are being given the book as a tribute to the wonderful job they have done. And,dads are giving the book to their children as a contract. When reading it to their sons and daughters, fathers reinforce their intent to be an involved, wise and nurturing parent. I believe that DADDY PROMISES can make a difference in homes around the country. I hope readers will embrace the book and help put it into the hands of those for whom it was written...daddies.

Summary: Meaningful Book
Review: The writer displays masterful command of language, and has created a poignant, beautiful work. The illustrations complement the prose very nicely. This is a book that I can imagine fathers reading to their children time and again. However, I feel that the religious messages feel "tacked on" and detract from the impact that the book might have otherwise achieved. This is not a book I could share with students in my second grade classroom, and might not be appropriate in households of other faiths. While the publisher may have wanted this Christian prose to be included, I find it unfortunate that this book could not have been written to appeal to a wider audience.

Summary: OUTSTANDING!!!!!
Review: This is a book for young fathers to read aloud to their children, even as newborns, so the recitation of these all-important promises becomes ingrained as part of an on-going bedtime ritual. It's also a book for a father to read aloud to the mother of his children, for these promises are what will ensure the solidity of the family.

Summary: This is a book that could make a difference
Review: When vows are made and shared they bind people together. This book, Daddy Promises, is filled with vows that a father should make to his children. Each time he reads this book to them he accepts accountability for fulfilling those vows. And, each time he fulfills those vows,he strengthens his children's faith in him. I strongly recommend this book for all dads, new and old.
