Rating: Summary: Highest Praises for "This Mother's Daughter" Review: This book examines one of the most important relationships in a woman's life: the relationship between a mother and her daughter. Nelvia M. Brady's insightful, sensitive book is a must read for all women, and shows how the interaction between mothers/daughters lays the foundation for all other relationships. Congratulations to Ms. Brady for her excellent work!
Rating: Summary: long over due Review: This book is long over due for women of color. I'm a young thirty something who has had a difficult time managing the role of being a daughter. When I read this book, what I've missed and long for was finally there waiting. As I read the many stories, I realized that a mother's wisdom is not just a message verbally they give you, but it's an understanding that they seem to pass on based on their own reinactment of their pain and life's lessons. With each written word that I spoke to myself , I slowly began to fill that sense of nonexistence and painfull childhood memories. Sharing stories can be very therapeutic. This book had some of the best therapist that will never be famous but will help someone else discover the star within themselves. Thank you Nelvia Brady from a daughter who can now have the courage to find her mother.
Rating: Summary: ok Review: This mother's daughter is essays from daughter about their experience with their mother. The only thing is I wanted to read more from the mother's point of view.
Rating: Summary: Very Good Book Review: When I picked up this book, I expected it to be about mothers and daughters who had really good relationships and were sharing information about such. Some of the tales were heart-wrenching and really make you appreciate who you have as a mother.
