Summary: Diary of a Single Dad
Review: An amazing story told through the eyes of a dedicated father. Steve will go to any lengths to hold his family together, but even further to protect his children from their mother who suffers from a substance abuse problem. The courage that this man shows in contrast to the neglect that he is treated with is truly inspirational.

Review: Aside from the Grammatical and Syntax errors, the book is great!
It gives true insight into family life when one spouse is involved in drug and alcohol abuse. This is not just a "story" as some have portrayed. It is a way of life that this family came to know. The painful experiences caused tears to flow down my cheeks as I read of them. Mr. Hutchinson's children are fortunate to have a Dad who refused to get caught up in the throes of alcoholism and drug abuse to the point that it may have destroyed them all, more than temporarily.
I'm glad to see he recommended Al-anon to others who may experience this lifestyle and hope anyone in this predicament would take advangates of what it has to offer. Hopefully, someone who reads this book may be able to relate and seek help and support from their family and friends. As Mr. Hutchinson has let us know, most people try to hide these ugly events from everyone they know, thus taking longer for the recovery process. Read it and take heed to the warning signs which you may have been overlooking. This book has certainly provided insight and possible solutions to those who may be in despair. He has truly shared with others enough for them to know "they are not alone". May this family be blessed with peace and happiness always.

Summary: A good premise but bad writing
Review: I was intrigued to read this book recommended to me by a friend. The premise was interesting but I was disappointed with the writing. The author definitely needs an editor to catch the numerous typos and grammatical errors. Additionally, I found myself extremely bored by the author's ramblings about birthday parties, his motorcycle, and his ability to negotiate a good car deal. I understand the points he was trying to make but he took way too long to get there. I was also frustrated with the way the author glossed over the big blowup that changed everything. The author should have spent more time writing about what happened during and after his blowup instead of page after page of his everyday life leading up to it. Contrary to the book's "Foreward" (sic), I did not cry nor get mad, I was only annoyed.

Summary: Diary of a Single Dad
Review: This non-fiction book is intriguing and helpful to not only single dads, but to families in general. This is an incredible, intense story of strength, and of a father whose love, nurturing, rage, pain, and acceptance are clearly portrayed. I was honored to recently meet Author Cary Hutchinson, and can't say enough about his writing! God bless this family for they have been through so much.
