Summary: Excellent Network+ core book
Review: Network+ Study Guide assisted me in passing Network+ with a score of 833/900. This book is strong in NT/2000 content, but lacking in Netware, Appletalk and Unix content. That said, the majority of the Network+ exam is devoted to NT/2000; nonetheless the Network+ tests are randomly generated and you may luck out with a Netware-heavy exam. Some sections contained errors in the review questions which were duplicated on the CD-ROM. However, careful readers will note the errors and learn from them. I recommend this book as a primary Network+ resource, and supplementing it with secondary materials.

Summary: Text and sim all in 1 place - nice job!
Review: Take a well known author for A+ and Net+. Add in a highly respected CCNA Author. Add to that a highly successful book for Network+ certification. Finally throw in a lab simulator and package it under through a publisher well known for producing high quality technical reference manuals.

Now you have the perfect study tool for the Net+ Certification. David Groth and Sybex have teamed up to give you an updated text for Network+ and thrown in a lab simulator to make the chance of passing the exam first time better than ever before.

I found that the OSI breakdown is not only perfect for Network+, but also the A+ class I am teaching benefits from it as well. Groth also has a great 200 pages for TCP/IP, again the explanation is written for all levels making a perfect learning and teaching tool.

Once again the text is technically up to date and accurate. The team has certainly done everything here including hands-on labs, practice questions, tips and tricks.

There are 2 cd included, one with practice exams and the other with the simulator. What should be included in either a separate lab manual to use with the simulator or the lab manual as part of the book.

Overall you have both a first rate book and simulator. If you are looking for a good set of tools for the networking, then you may just want to start here

Summary: Great text, but it's probably overkill for passing Net+
Review: The text itself is excellent, but the Net+ exam is so pathetically easy that if you know anything about the internet and tcp/ip, you could probably pass the test without ever opening a book. In fact, I have never heard of a person who has failed. If you have any kind of networking experience, I'd take one of the free practice tests that can be found online. If you consistently get 80% or above, you can probably just go ahead and take the test. I used this book and studied for about 2 1/2 weeks, and I really didnt' learn anything new. I easily passed with a 873/900. However, if you have virtually no experience with networking, this is an excellent text to get.

The only thing I'd be aware of is that this book is very Windows-oriented, so it kind of skims over AppleTalk, Netware and even Unix. However, there is sufficient information on each of those topics to pass.

Again, the Net+ exam is ridiculously easy...so don't dump $40+ on a book if you don't have to.

Summary: not bad, but confusing
Review: This book wasn't bad, but I didn't feel it was well written. The author gives you the bare minimum of what you need to know with little to no explanation. Unless you're A+ certified, you may be lost, as the author uses very technical terms and doesn't "dumb it down" for newbies. I'm not saying the book isn't complete or doesn't cover the exam objectives; it covers everything you need to know. I just felt the author's writing style was hard to follow. I bought the All-in-One Certification guide (Michael Meyers) and I feel it is much more well written and easier to follow.

Summary: This book was all I needed
Review: Today, I passed the Network+ (N10-002) exam with 93,3%! and all I needed was just this book.
It is written very clear and together with all the pictures makes this book very complete.
