Summary: An MCT that upgraded his MCSE in three weeks
Review: A big test.
Look for supplementary material for networking, group policy.
You will also need some practice tests. Try measureUP.

Summary: terrible
Review: Common sense tells us that who would know more about a product then it's inventors. Who whould be better to teach us about that product then the inventors. Well Microsoft has not and does not believe in common sense. you rely on this book to pass the test or to know anything pratical about 2000 and buddy you're in for a world of hurt. It leaves out significant details and aspects of 2000 that are need for a complete understanding of 2000. Yes, what little detail and knowledge it prvides are accurate, but they are so few. Old Billy Gates again with a half attempt like everything he does. It seems their idea of common sense is: Well we charge $135 a test and sell the book for $45 and since they'll never pass the test on the first or second try then we'll make a bundle. Save your money and save your time. Buy the Sybex book for preparation for the test.

Summary: It's a start
Review: I could fill a book with what is not explained or is surfed over in this book. You probably should buy it, but look for supplementary material. I used this book in a class structure. But had to buy two other books to get a well rounded picture of the Windows 2000 client O/S.
In case you are wondering, I took and passed the big test. Further, I still use this book as a reference, but only for general information. For detail, I use "another book" by a famous author of Windows 2000 books. This does not bode well for the content of this book. But without the structure of this book; don't risk your hard earned bucks seeking Microsoft's blessing.

Summary: Good book
Review: I used this book and Measure-up practice tests to prepare for 70-215 Windows 2000 exam. I found the book complete and to the point. I did pass the test. I recommend using this book in combination with such practice tests as Transcender and Measure-up - simply reading the book isn't enough. Make sure you take practice tests and fully understand the problem discussed in each question - why the right answers are right and why the wrong answers are wrong. This approach works; the only problem - it's time-comsuming...

Summary: Good Stuff!!
Review: If you want to really learn Windows 2000 while studying for the 70-210 exam then get this book. Great detail and practice excercises to prepare you for the real mccoy.

Summary: Very good Book
Review: The book has helpful tips and time management techniques it explain the use of the different parts of the system, at the end of each chapter you will find questions to check your progress and they are similar to the real exam, however you need to use other tools (example - test) to pass the real exam. At the end of the book you get a review of essential exam-related terms and concepts.

Summary: Good for reference.
Review: The practice exam part of this book shares same questions
as Microsoft Press's "MCSE Microsoft Windows 2000
Server Readiness Review (Exam 70-215)". If you already
have "Readiness Review" and want more practice tests,
this may not be a book for you.

Note: "Readiness Review" has some wrong answers,
which is corrected in this book.

This book is good for reference, but covers too broad
area to concentrate only on 70-215. If you read this book
page by page from page 1 to last just for 70-215, you would
end up spending extremely long time for things that never
come up in the real exam.

Actually, this book has a table that shows which
objectives of the test are covered in which chapters,
so you can skip some chapters not in the table.
If you encoutner some important concept that you are not
so familar with, you can go back and forth in the
book to read the chapter that explains it. This book
surely has such chapter.

This book explains complex concepts, such as Domain
Group, GPO, unattended installation, and VPN, in enough
detail. If you want reference for these things to pass the exam,
this book would be a good choice.

Summary: Good book
Review: this book is by far the worst certification book i have ever been through. it is not simply worse than the rest, it is orders of magnitude worse. concepts that are glanced over are covered in detail on the test. this happens multiple times. the only reason i passed the test is because of the study questions i practiced with. there is no excuse for not covering the information, since microsoft also wrote the test. they know what is going to be asked. they should cover it.

Summary: Passed the 76-210 REFRESH Win2k Exam with this book!
Review: Very good book. Easy to work with just one computer with this book. I passed the 76-210 REFRESH Win2K Exam with this book and the Exam Cram2 Windows 2000 Professional book.

I followed almost all of the labs in this book on one computer. Great labs. Didn't notice any big errors in this book. Saw some earlier concerns about the Index of this book. I just followed the chapters cover-to-cover and the test was a breeze. I think there might be some "sour grapes" about not passing the test and blaming the book. I never even looked at the index to see if there were errors
I passed the 4-hour, 76-210 Refresh Win2k Exam with this book in less than 3 hours. I would strongly consider this book if you are on a budget, have one computer, and want to pass the Exam. Plus there is a 15% off the Exam coupon in the back.
