Rating: Summary: Save your money. Review: Honestly, save your money. You can find reviews on the internet for Farscape episodes free. This book is filled with typos, (I caught at least half a dozen), the episodes are listed out of order, and, well, what made me very angry is that he completely botches a review of an episode, because he didn't seem to understand what was going on. Plus, he gives away some spoilers to what happened in the early parts of season 2 (Not that I mind spoilers, but someone who hasn't seen it yet might be upset by it.) I was very disappointed with this - in fact, I actually kind of ordered it on accident, because I thought it was something else. As a diehard insanely obsessed Scaper, I do NOT recommend this book - I say, just go read reviews off websites.
Rating: Summary: A great guide without the corporate strings Review: I got this book for myself so I could read a few insightful reviews about the show (comments about the storylines, the characters, why effects worked or didn't, etc.). I was tired of the pointless reviews I found on websites that were just filled with "Oh, John's so cute!" muck. This guide is amazing. It not only gives you complete guest actor names and summaries of every episode, it also gives smart and witty comments -- it made me laugh and made me think more about my favorite show on tv.
Rating: Summary: Great storylines and straight-forward critiques Review: I liked this book a lot. I only got to watch about half of the first season, but the book's got a plot synopsis for each episode. It filled me in on everything I missed. I disagreed with some of the criticism, but to each his own. No worries though, because mine came with a great new cover (similar to the one for the Season Two edition by Pelucir. I can't wait for number 3!
Rating: Summary: A waste of time and money Review: I ordered all three books without thinking. I should have ordered only one at a time, then I would not have bought the other two. Not at this price. For as small as the first book is, and no photos or anything else in the book, it isn't worth the price. And, as another reviewer mentioned, there are a lot of typos! That was irritating. As a reviewer, Talis does ok. As he mentions, I don't have to agree with everything he says. I think he missed the point on some episodes, though, and I think he could have been more in depth on some. I hope the second book is better. I noticed it is larger, so I have some hope that my money was not so misplaced. I would have been happy with the book had it been more the price of a small paperback novel.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Book on a Fantastic series Review: I ordered all three books without thinking. I should have ordered only one at a time, then I would not have bought the other two. Not at this price. For as small as the first book is, and no photos or anything else in the book, it isn't worth the price. And, as another reviewer mentioned, there are a lot of typos! Rating: Summary: Insightful and well written guide Review: Mostly becuase it's about Farscape, wich is my faverit show. It helped me find ou about some of the earlier eps. that I missed and gave me new insight on all my faves.
Rating: Summary: Poor Book Review: The book has decent summaries of the episodes, but the episode critiques often are very weak. While they offer occasional insight, they frequently nitpick or resort to vulgar feminist rants. In several cases it is clear the author completely misses the point of an episode, or even the show itself. If you are a thoughtful, educated fan of the show, the book will likely really annoy you.
Rating: Summary: Great Introduction to one of the Very Best SF Shows Review: This a great way to get introduced to the show. Pelucir provides really great plot synopisis as well as some very interesting critiques of the episodes.
I've bought a bunch of official and unofficial guides to both this series and others, and in this case, the unofficial ones are better.
Why? MOstly because the official guides to this show are just a bunch of recycled interviews and photographs. I can get those elsewhere--in fact I already had everything I found in the official books.
This is a really cool book and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves Farscape.
Rating: Summary: A waste of time and money Review: This author doesn't even seem to like the show. He loves Zahn but that is about it. Factual errors, thin skinned about jokes, and way over sensitive to imagined woman hating. He made a few good points but not worth the time or the money.
Rating: Summary: A good series, and a good book Review: This book is very detailed in the storylines and critiques, however it needs undoubtly some sort of photos to make this book more attractive. Not that it is mandatory, but it would transport the reader to the Farscape world more easily.
