Rating: Summary: Practical guide for entrepreneurs Review: I found this book to be more informative than a lot of my MBA textbooks. Textbooks tend to focus more on principals of business, but this book focused on application of these principals on a day-to-day basis. The text was simple to read and comprehend. Each chapter was short and to the point. While this book may be overly simple for those with previous business experience, it is a great guide for those without prior experience as an entrepreneur. There are a ton of great tips in this book, and I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: good stuff Review: If you need more check out www.antiventurecapital.com for startup manual for entrepreneurs who are unable or unwilling to tap venture capital.
Rating: Summary: Helpful book Review: This book is really packed with a lot of information and resources for the entrepreneur-to-be. Covers all aspects to be concidered when starting a new business, be it a home-based, a franchise, buying an already established business, etc. and even advises on which legal structure is more adecuate for your type of business. Has a lot of links to the web which can offer tremendous help on this matter. Buy, have it borrowed, do whatever, but read it. You wont regret it.
Rating: Summary: Pretty good book Review: This book is very general but it covers a wide range of areas. I enjoyed reading this book and it is something that I can refer to over and over again.
Rating: Summary: The best primer on running a business I've seen Review: This is a very comprehensive (and big!) book. It covers all the basic steps you need to know about starting and running a business, from business forms to accounting to buying insurance to employee issues to purchasing. No one subject is covered in great depth, of course, but reading the book gives you a VERY GOOD IDEA of what kind of work you're getting yourself into when you run a new, small business. Not every chapter will be worthwhile (I pretty much skipped the chapter on how to select office equipment) but most chapters are worth a quick look, and many were worth in depth review. Of all the "basic overview" type books about starting and running a small business that I've plunked down money for, this one is the best, HANDS DOWN!
Rating: Summary: The greatest business start-up book I have read! Review: This is the greatest Business-startup book that i have read. It gave wonderful insight into the world of business and provided several case-files. I reccomend this to anyone thinking about or are in the process of starting a business.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely essential for the new business owner!! Review: This one has all the answers!
Rating: Summary: I was hoping for more Review: this was really just okay....i was hoping for more, unfortunately its really not very insightful. i think this is nowhere in the league of some other great books i've read on the subject recently. check out the "emyth" by Gerber, "Start it Sell it & Make a Mint" by Duran for really insightful stuff...and frankly more fun to read
Rating: Summary: Helpful book Review: While I don't agree with the author in that this is the only book I'll ever need, it is one of the book that I can't do without. This book was extremely useful when I was starting my own business; it really guided me in the right direction. Without this book and Guerilla PR Wired by Michael Levine, I would probably be only dreaming of my own business instead of actually owning one.
