Rating: Summary: It's got the stuff! Review: If you are looking for up-to-date information on the tanks of the world, then this book is for you. You will even find information on the minor tanks of the world, not just the major countries equipment. Spend the money and get the scoop.
Rating: Summary: All the tanks you could ever want (almost anyway)! Review: This is one of the most complete books on modern AFVs that I have ever read - also one of the best. It deals with almost all of the AFVs in service today, and although it does give some rather superflous details and leave out some others (for example, rate-of-fire for the main armament), it is just about the best low-cost option for anyone wanting a book on modern AFVs. For those who can afford to buy Jane's Armour and Artillery this may seem a little short on content, but for most of us (myself included) who can't afford it, this guide is plenty good enough. On the whole, Jane's Recognition guides are really high quality. In fact, I also bought the warship and gun recognition guides.
Rating: Summary: Poor Man's version of Jane's Armour and Artillery Review: Very concise, and detailed information on most AFVs of the world. Good effort made to include AFVs from China, and lesser known manufacturers. Very good value. Two main weaknesses though. Under status, countries are listed that have the particular AFV in service, but no numbers are given. Even an educated guess of the number in service would be helpful. Second, Rate of Fire for the main armament of MBTs, and light tanks should be given, along with their maximum effective range. The Key Recognition Features of each AFV is a waste of space as the photos and technical drawings are quite revealing. All in, this book is a good addition to my collection, and much appreciated by an ex-tanker.
