Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: Although I found some of the content of the book useful, like how a camera actually works and how different kinds of film is developed, the rest of the book seemed to drag on and on. There is also many typos throughout the book, especially towards the end and I found myself reading some of the same sentences over and over trying to make sense of what the author was trying to say because of the typos. It dosent go into alot of depth on how to actually capture a spirit on film either. This is what disappointed me the most. All and all though I will keep this book on hand in my paranormal investigations as a reference book on camera and film but I could have bought a book from Kodak for that.
Rating: Summary: Professional Author Review: Dale Kaczmarek is President of the Ghost Research Society, Tour Director for Excusions into the Unknown, and noted researcher. He has been in the field for years around the Chicago area.
Rating: Summary: The best book around for spirit photography Review: Highly recommended book on spirit photography with excellent pictures and the best way of photographing ghosts and spirits. Dale Kaczmarek is the foremost author and President of the Ghost Research Society and has analyzed ghost pictures for over 20 years. He has the real know how to tell the difference between the real and the fake. This is one book that you should not miss!
Rating: Summary: Not very useful Review: I was a professional photographer many years ago and have kept it up as a hobby. One of my new hobbies is paranormal research and I have been using both film and digital cameras (and a new digital video camera) in pursuing that avocation.
I just received this book today and in reading it (could be finished in a couple of hours) I find it fairly useless. There is nothing new here that cannot be found doing a google search. Plus the feel/readability of the book (size, typefaces, layout, graphics, photographs, etc...) is horrible. The only thing good I could say is the bindery seems to have a done a decent job.
If you are looking (as I am) for a good one volume compendium of how to use your photographic equipment in paranormal research, look past this one.
Rating: Summary: Expert in the Field Review: Mr. Kaczmarek has been lecturing and giving tours for over 20 years and investigating professionally longer than that. He has been featured on national television including the Oprah show. Spirit Photography is one of his areas of expertise. Anyone who attends one of his tours offered by the Ghost Research Society knows his professionalism. His tours are informative and actually last 5 hours, they are not a shopping trip like other Chicago area ghost tours that claim to last 5 hours and end up being much less even with 2 or more bar stops lasting 30 minutes each.
