Rating: Summary: A brilliant, sensual view into the lives of biblical women Review: An amazingly clear view into the lives of women of the bible. The greatness of this work, besides its unbelievable clarity and great beauty is its connection to women of today. Delilah and Monica Lewinsky have more in common than just a beautiful face and an attraction to strong men. Wow! I really love this book.
Rating: Summary: A profound and beautiful book exploring women of the Bible. Review: For a woman who has rarely if ever entered the world of the Bible without being daunted by the emphasis on the masculine, this book is an exquisite exploration into the Bible's women, into their connection with contemporary women, validating at once their intelligence, their sexuality, their emotional passion ... ultimately, at least for me, their connection to the modern woman. A no holds barred look at women without being intimidated by the Book that holds their stories. And, is it not amusing, that the cover image of Rebecca looks almost exactly like Monica Lewinsky although the story that most resembles Monica's is actually Delilah's. A great Chanukah or Bat Mitzvah gift.
Rating: Summary: Loved This Fine Book Review: I found the book most enlightening. It seems that so much of religous thought and teaching of Judao/Chritian religions Leave out the feminine voices and personalities of the old testament. I was very impressed with what these women accomplished with their lives and with Layne Redmond's midrash type commentary after each. I learned more than I have for years about God / Goddess working through people.
Rating: Summary: Poetic Sensibitlty and a Great Biblical Art Book! Review: I was visiting the Metropolitan Musem of Art bookstore recently and there was this big, magnificent book of biblical art, prominiently displayed near the section on women artists, called LISTEN TO HER VOICE by Miki Raver. Not surprising really that this book should be so favored by the Met Museum, it is by far the most extensive and best illustrated collection of fine art paintings of women in the Bible on the market today. Yes it is a coffee table book, in terms of its size and number of pictures, but the writing also has depth to match the finest midrash, along with a wonderfully elegant, poetic sensibility in its vocabulary. Here's an example from the opening of Miki Raver's introduction to the biblical Book of Ruth:
"The book of Ruth is an exquisite tale about the bond between women. The narrative is unique in Scripture because it centers around a female family struggling for survival in a man's world. It is a story of women's culture and women's values. It is about absolute commitment, embracing connection and love as a spiritual path."
Wow!

Rating: Summary: Beautiful, Insightful, Inspirational Review: LISTEN TO HER VOICE creates a wonderful connection between the women of the Old Testament to women of today. I loved this book!
Rating: Summary: This is the most beautiful book I have ever read. Review: Miki Raver gently guides and encourages the reader to know of the lives of women who are as real in 1998 as they were in history. I could not put this book down and treasure it. I hope the author writes another one soon. It makes a fabuous gift.
Rating: Summary: Brave, resonant, sensual and spiritual. Review: Miki River gives voice to the voices we have never really heard before, although their names and circumstances are well known to us. Finally, the power and the glory of these utterly modern women resonate deeply and joyfully.
Rating: Summary: A "must" for everyone, especially young adults. Review: This is an enlightening piece of work. I suggest it for everyone, especially young men and women entering adulthood. It makes a great Bar or Bat Mitzvah gift!!!
