Summary: Forever Young
Review: It has been a long time since a book touched me so much that I am constantly recommending it to everyone I know. I have read other bios on other stars, but the way Joan wrote this book, made it seem like Loretta Young was telling HER story! Ms. Young had such a strong faith you could feel it coming through the pages straight to your heart. I hope Joan Wester Anderson writes more bios on other people. She has a gift of letting that person shes writing about truely come through! THANK YOU JOAN, for letting us see Loretta Young as she truely was.

Summary: Forever Lovely
Review: It was with great anticipation that I waited for this wonderful book to come out. Written about one of the loveliest, most gracious stars in Hollywood history, "Forever Young" is a loving tribute to a great human being. I felt this biographer did well by Miss Young by revealing her flaws without trashing her, and the recurring theme that Loretta Young was eternally seeking to better herself spiritually and to understand how she fit in regarding society. This book is also a rare treat in that I read the whole thing without being inundated with dirt and filth, a rarity in today's show biz bios. Ms. Anderson's writing style is reporting mixed with compassion and a genuine regard for her subject. Loretta Young left us with lovely memories and this book will help to keep those memories alive.

Summary: Praise God!
Review: JMJ

As a Catholic, I fully appreciate the beauty, authenticity, and honesty of this book. It's so inspiring to know not only that Loretta Young was a good woman, and a good Catholic, but there were many other very good people in Hollywood in her time (not all of them Catholic). Knowing how she struggled with keeping her values in Hollywood even back then is truly amazing and shows her heroic character. She doesn't try to "paint" herself that way, though; she's honest and even tells of the bad things she did in her life, fearing that she would cause scandal to readers of the Biography. It's truly an excellent book, and I've already bought copies for other people and recommended it to many...

Summary: Wonderful look at the life of an extraordinary woman!
Review: Joan Wester Anderson wrote a great book!

This story profiles a woman of courage. She made mistakes and owned up to them. She stood up for her beliefs, under difficult circumstances.

The book is a page-turner, it covers Loretta Young's early life, her loves, her film and television career, and her family.. she spoke candidly about her desire to lead a Christian life while being a movie star, and how difficult it was to meld the two lifestyles.

This is an uplifting book and would make a great gift for mom or grandmother!

Summary: A Rare Beauty both Physically and Spiritually!
Review: Joan Wester Anderson's biography of movie and TV star Loretta Young is an inspiration to Christians and non-Christians alike. What comes across to this reader is Miss Young's pure integrity, one she would not sacrifice to Hollywood's worship of power, prestige and money. Anderson addresses sensitively the issue of Miss Young's daughter Judy, the child of Clark Gable amd Miss Young. Stars at that time would either have had an abortion or given the child up for adoption. Miss Young, the breadwinner for her family of mother and three sisters, kept her child and raised her the best she could. An admirable solution to a dilemma that could have destroyed two burgeoning careers: her own and Gable's. One of the most touching stories is that of her love for Spencer Tracy: her letter breaking off her relationship because Tracy was married and they were both Catholic, is a tribute to her and illustrates the beauty of her soul. How poignant it was when Tracy's daughter returned the note to Loretta after her father's death. He kept it all those years! If one had to describe Anderson's biography of Loretta Young, one could say it is a story of Love: Loretta's love for her family, church and God. No doubt about it: in an age when belief blows thither and yon with every new wind, Loretta Young kept the faith and fought the good fight. Hollywood won't see her kind again.

Summary: Loretta --Forever Young
Review: Joan Wester ANDERSON, I salute you for a well written book about the life of a well respected actress, LORETTA YOUNG.Loretta knew what she doing in trusting you with her life story. From early childhood to adult life, her life is well decribed and forthcoming. Her affair with Clark GABLE is explained fully, her silence is understood as she was ashamed of that part of her life. Her mother was a great help in that time of her life. What interested me the most was how she overcame her reading deficiency, while an actress and in her life.Loretta was indeed a very strong woman, being raised without a father and making decisions to further her life. Yes Joan Wester ANDERSON, your book makes Loretta Young--Forever Young, in our heart.I am glad to have been a Loretta Young fan for the past 65 years, this book explains why. She was a lady in the highest degree. I recommend that every young girl, thinking about a career, to read this book to get a better outlook on life.

Summary: A GREAT DAME
Review: LORETTA YOUNG WAS ALAWAYS A GREAT FAVORITE IN OUR HOME, SO NATURALLY I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS BOOK. WHAT A WASTE|
MISS YOUNG COULD NOT HAVE ACCOMPLISHED WHAT SHE DID IN TV OR FILMS, IF SHE WAS AS INSIPID AS THIS BOOK PORTRAYS. SHE WAS A STRONG AND VIBRANT WOMAN OF GREAT BEAUTY AND INDEPENDENCE. A TRUE CLASS ACT. THIS BOOK DOES A DISSERVICE TO GREAT LADY.

Summary: Great recovery
Review: She is not like you would have imagined from the TV Show. She had a lot more going on than the glamour that she displayed with her swirling entries each week.
She was not the angel one might think either but she was human and she faced it, or not, within the pages of this book. She sometimes came off as a saint and sometimes as naive but you did not always believe she could be THAT naive. Other times she came of as competent and adult, which, in my book makes her as real as a Hollywood siren can be.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Poignant rendition of a human being
Review: The author captures the triumphs and failures of one of the greatest actresses of all time, which include her human frailities.
Although I wouldn't nominate Loretta Young for 'Mother of the Year', she did the best she could as a mother under the circumstances. I did feel empathy for her children, especially Judy, for they, like all children, needed their mother who was absent a good part of their lives.
Loretta, however, had such a compassion for all mankind, even to the point of visiting lepers. She also had faith in God and followed His teachings -- "Whatever you do to the least of My brethren, that you do unto me."
Joan Wester Anderson was the perfect author for this easy to read and understand biography. I loved it!
