Review: Nouwen describes the Spiritual life like a dance with three movements, distinct but interconnected. I found part 2 (the movement from hostility to hospitality) particularly valuable--it's a must read for parents, educators, and people in the helping professions.

Review: Nouwen weaves words of such depth and simplicity that God's love and presence enter your innerself while flowing through this book. I could not recomend it with more joy and hope that it too can change how you view yourself, your fellow people, and your God.

Summary: First try at Nouwen, won't be the last
Review: This was the first Nouwen book that I have ever read. I thought he was able to describe the destination of the spiritual journey, but for me the book lacked the concrete directions on how to get from one place to another. There were moments that I became excited with anticipation that I was going to receive what I was looking for, but overall I left disappointed. It won't be the last Nouwen book I read.
