Summary: A great way to begin again...
Review: I've been one of those "two or three times a year" Christians for the last 20 years...I never knew what they were talking about! So, I bought this bible--it's great, it helps me "see" the situation, it explains things very well. It's heavy, it's big, it's expensive. But, I'm keeping this baby! I love it.

Summary: Excellent study Bible
Review: If you want a Bible that is easy to read and understand this is the one for you. I have a King James version and while I like it somtimes you can't understand what is exactly being said. This Bible goes into great detail of the scripture has illustrations and explinations of what is being talked about. If you choose this Bible you will enjoy it.

Review: If you want a NIV bible or a king james Version I'd love it Please get a bible if you don't have one yet. The NIV is easier to understand or to some people it is harder. And the King James vVersion I harder to understand for some people And for some it is Easy. Please if you don't have a Bible i encourage you to get one.

Summary: NIV Life Application Bible verses NIV Study Bible (1985)
Review: My first impressions on the Life Application Study Bible (NIV) are these: it has lots of white space for the actual text of the Bible (which I like a lot for Proverbs and Psalms, etc.--but less so for the more narrative portions such as the gospels) without the crowded feel and wrapped lines of the NIV Study Bible (c. 1985, hereafter NSB), many of the book introductions contain a timeline specific to that book along with a map of key places discussed in the book's text, the major timeline at beginning of Bible -- called Chronology of Bible Events and World Events -- is in black and white and much simpler than NSB's chronology and more enjoyable on first glance, the introductions are all nicely organized and simpler than NSB, it has roughly 25% of the cross-references and fewer notes than NSB, its Concordance is smaller than NSB, its charts are numerous and helpful but the line maps don't seem as extensive as NSB, the Profile Notes of Bible People are very interesting (lacking in NSB) and the integrated Harmony of the Gospels is a wonderful reference (lacking in NSB).

Much of the above is mandated by the different approach taken by the Life Application system. The NSB seems more scholarly. Life Application is more touchy-feely. I like both; they are complementary. My NSB is a sturdy hardback textbook. The Life Application Bible is in leather and indexed. I appreciate the leather feel and especially the thumb-index system, but for such a large book the floppy leather cover does not offer the support of the cheaper textbook. Still, somehow, the flexibility and skin texture and rounded edges all combine to make this leather book feel more intimate.

Summary: Best Bible for non-native English speaker.
Review: Non-native English speakers like me often find it difficult to read the Bible. The Bible cannot be read casually like reading newspaper or comic book. It is really a deep book. This Bible not only help me by using easy to understand words, but also help describe the meaning of the word of God with illustrations and side notes. It was the extensive side-notes that help me so much in understanding the word of God. Reading the Bible now feels like reading a bestseller of the greatest author of life Himself.

Summary: Makes Bible study easy and enjoyable.
Review: One of the easiest Bibles to read. Written in modern verse, it not only makes reading enjoyable but also makes things clearer for serious and casual students of the Bible. If you only have one Bible in your house, make it this one.

Summary: ALMOST EVERYTHING IN ONE BIBLE
Review: This Bible has exceeded my expectations, red lettering, indexed and leather bound. The material, comments and references are a stand alone reference bible and a perfect companion to my NIV Thompson Chain Reference bible.
