Summary: Excellent!
Review: I am not finished reading the New Believer's Bible, but I think it is great. The explanations it offers are excellent and very applicable to everyday life. I would recommend it to anyone who is seeking to learn more about the bible and God.

Summary: Wonderful Gift
Review: I have not finished this bible but it was given to me as a gift from a stranger working at the Christian book store. I was there to by a bible and did buy the NIV Study Bible. Something I said, did or gave off signaled that I was seeking clarity and a way to have the passages of the bible presented to me within context of particular subjects, heaven, hell, marriage, children, etc. This bible does it wonderfully. It allows me to explore what is on my mind and follow the signs that come to me, the bible is cut into several navigation paths and is an absolutely joyful way to discover Christ in an exploratory non-threatening way.

Summary: a very readable Bible
Review: Of the six or seven different editions of the Bible I own, this one is the one I use on a daily basis. It is written in very plain and straight-forward modern English, is well type set, and for the most part well annotated. As has been mentioned elsewhere, some of the supplemental commentaries represent the opinions of the editors, so they can be taken at times with a grain of salt. This would not be my first choice on research for Biblical interpretation. Typical of most editions, this one does not have the Deuterocanonical Books or the Apocrypha, so this should not be the only Bible in any believer's library. As a means of having a reasonable modern translation of the original texts, however, this book is very recommendable. It is also priced very fairly. There is also a separate edition of the New Testament, but I would suggest investing in this release. I have spent many wonderful hours reading the Psalms, which are a highlight of this edition, Deuteronomy, and Jeremiah, and have never enjoyed the Old Testament this much until purchasing this Bible. Recommended with enthusiasm.

Summary: Best for devotional reading
Review: Research and thought are an important aspect to any study. When reading God's Word, it is especially important to know exactly what He said. This is our guide for life and the most ipmortant method for us to know Him. The Lord tells us in the Bible that the Bible is spiritually discerned. I believe that is why some have so much trouble with the King James. They are not studying it. They want a novel that they can breeze through. God packed all the instructions for your entire life into this relatively small book (look at the manual your mechanic has for your car). If you want to read books like the New Believer's Bible, do it with a KJV in hand. It is God's preservd Word and will not lead you astray. If you have trouble understanding a passage, use these other books as a reference. Then you can make a judgement as to what the scripture states. If you start out reading an 'understanding or belief' of what a passage means, you may start off wrong. Please use a KJV as your principle Bible. All other books are, at the most, commentary.

Summary: Buy this one for your friends.
Review: This bible really spells it out. It walks you through the steps of becoming a Christian. It explains everything from "Who Jesus Is" to how to "Share Your Faith" using bible references. It is very easy to read. The translation uses modern English without changing the meaning of the KJV of the bible. The only downfall that I found is that the words of Christ are not in red. This would be a great purchase or gift for any new believer. Enjoy!

Summary: Best for devotional reading
Review: This is a wonderful translation to use for devotional reading, especially for new
Christians. When the KJV was written, it was written in the language of the day.
That's what this translation does for modern readers. When you just want to
sit and read and enjoy God's word, the NLT is the way to go.

For a study Bible, I prefer an Amplified Bible, which provides parenthetical
notes with several translations of a particular word or phrase. This gives
the depth and shades of meaning that are useful in study.

For new believers I would recommend a NLT first, then an Amplified (or other)
study Bible. It's nice to have one reserved for study so you can write all over it,
and another for reflective/devotional reading.

Summary: A Must for New Believers!
Review: This is the best bible to give a new believer of any denomination! Not only is it simple to understand, but answers all the common questions that it could take years for one to learn. The front pages have FAQ's (if you will) that are answered with scripture references that gets the reader turning pages and becoming familiar with the order of books in the Bible. (This also shows new believers how most answers are within scripture.) If you know a newbie or someone teetering over unanswered questions, I encourage you to sow this inexpensive seed into their life right away!
