Rating: Summary: A very good (but not great) book Review: As another reviewer stated, there are quality problems. I sent 3 back before One met my standards (no folded and wrinkled pages)The paper is slightly heavier than regular bible paper though I wouldn't extensively use a roller ball for notes.I would call this a semi-wide margin ,not a true one ,in the sense of the Cambridge Wide Margin. Although it may sound silly, the cover on the Top Grain Cowhide version is the real selling point ,it's what you always thought a bible should feel and look like, soft, limp, and very comfortable in the hand, almost from another era. The interior is typical of Foundation, clean crisp text (with no references in this style) a decent concordance and some average quality maps. It comes with a black velvet case which is nice but ho-hum. I think that for this kind of money a couple of small upgrades should be in order like art gilt edges (red under gold) and perhaps classier packaging and someone who would take responsibility for quality control in the printing process.
Rating: Summary: What A Quality Presentation of the Word of God!!! Review: As one who believes that the NASV is the most accurate translation of the Bible, this became my "primary" Bible immediately after I removed it from the box. I love the wide margins for recording notes and dates and it's extremely comfortable to use in any surrounding. For study and teaching I use other versions, computer aids, etc, but as a Christian that God is guiding through great personal adversities, I'm blessed by simply reading His message with only a hi-liter in one hand and the Holy Spirit as a teacher. Shucks! If I mark it up so I can't read it, I'll get another one! A clean page in a Bible can be an indication of a messed up life!! I highly recommend it!!

Rating: Summary: A truly beautiful Bible! Review: Ever since my mentor Dr. Charles W. Draper showed me his collection of Bibles and the beautiful editions that are rarely, if ever, printed anymore, I have been scouring bookstores and the internet trying to find a quality, beautiful Bible that would last long after me. When I held this Bible in a bookstore for the first time I almost could not let it go! Finally a binding, leather, paper, and craftsmanship worthy of the Book which they contain!!
Rating: Summary: NASB UPDATE IN TOUCH MINISTRIES WIDE MARGIN EDITION Review: EXCELLENT BIBLE --- CAN'T WAIT TO GET ONE FOR EACH OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS!
Rating: Summary: The content matters more than the container & yet... Review: For some time I have been looking for a special bible which would become my main one for study & preaching. It needed to be technically accurate, of the highest quality manufacture, with good legible print, margins for my jottings, a concordance for my searchings, and an aesthetic quality which meant it would be a joy just to handle, as I intend to be handling it daily for many years to come. Overall this bible measures up. The translation is among the most reliable in the English language, the leather binding is sumptuous and wonderful to handle, the printing immaculate & type clear, the paper is perfect for note taking, the margins large enough without overwhelming the text, and the price half what one would expect to pay in England. The lifetime guarantee gives confidence in quality manufacture. However, I have a couple of niggles which others have drawn attention to: 1)some basic translators footnotes would have been useful ie: alternative textual readings & references of OT citations in the NT (as in basic NIV footnotes); 2)the pages are occasionally creased, and perhaps the inside edge margins could have been slightly wider; 3) the leather covers are unequal in width, and the yap (protective edging over lap) on one side barely covers the paper; 4)the printing on the binding "The Holy Bible, NASB Update" etc is off centre. These last two comments do demonstrate, however, that this is not some conveyer belted, machine manufactured item, but a truly "hand-made" bible. It is the content and not the container which is all important. God's word is infallible, bible manufacturers are not. Despite these minor imperfections, it remains among the most beautifully bound bibles available, and one which will give me delight, outside & in, for many years.
Rating: Summary: wow! Review: I certainly have more Bibles than I need. I got hooked on collecting Bibles after I converted and it has become somewhat of a hobby. My favorites to date have been the Cambridge Bibles and they are certainly second to none when it comes to craftsmanship - until now. I have never had a Bible actually evoke an emotional response out of me after opening the box. The leather has no equal (sorry Cambridge) and the typeface is just the right size. The paper has an 'old time' quality that I can't place. In fact - handling the Bible makes you feel like an old Scribe who has found an ancient text that no one else knows about. Lockman says the binding is designed so the Bible can lay flat - well maybe - but not without some breaking in. It certainly appears to be a very high quality binding, however, it is not a hinged design like Cambridge - which can lay flat right out of the box. There are no cross references - which can be a negative depending on your point of view. I for one generally prefer them. However, the absences of them give the pages of this Bible a very clean appearance that beckons one to simply sit and read. Anyone buying a Bible like this is bound to be like me in the sense that they will most certainly have another Bible they can use for in depth studies. It would be impossible for me to write in this Bible - it's that beautiful. The Lockman Foundation scores a 10.
Rating: Summary: Top Grain Cowhide NASB Review: I have been a devout bible student and bible collector for 29 years. My first bible (which I still have) was a Scofield KJV. Since then, I have owned many different bibles that have had various degrees of helps and notes. In choosing a bible, my criteria were as follows: 1. The bible had to be of superior quality and workmanship 2. Wide margins for note taking 3. Limited or no notes 4. Literal word-for-word translation This "In Touch" addition meets and exceeds my requirements! I purchased the deluxe leather addition. Many people are have stated that the NASB is the most literal translation available. That is not the case. I believe it is the most literal translation that is widely available. Green's Literal Translation is by far the most literal version on the market today. The NASB most literal passages are not in the body of the text but in the margins! Some have stated that not having these translation notes is by far the greatest weakness of this bible. I would somewhat agree. But this weakness does have an upside-many times I found the alternate readings a distraction because they can be controversial (i.e. the last chapter of Mark and the story of the women caught in adultery), and if I wanted to, I could simply refer to another bible or computer software to capture these notes. I would imagine that the absence of cross-references would be a showstopper for young Christians. Actually, I believe that the lack of these references will force the reader (young or old) to search the Scriptures. Of course, the reader should solicit the guidance of the Holy Spirit, but this activity (searching the Scriptures) will reinforce the learning experience. I highly recommend this edition of the NASB.

I have never felt such quality, not only in the leather but also in the paper. My congratulations to Dr Charles Stanley and the Lockman Foundation for creating a wonderful New addition to the NASB.This is a Bible that will last a life time because it is guaranteed for a life time. There are many translation of the Word of God out there but none more literal than the NASB. If you want a word for word translation then this is the Bible for you. Please don't just take my word for it. Buy it and experience it for yourself. You won't be disapointed. Regards Mick
