Review: I studied (all too briefly) under Dr. Ryrie. He's intelligent, balanced and fair-minded and all that shows through in his reference Bible. If you just get one study Bible, make this the one. It's comprehensive and detailed. It's also based on the translation (NASV) that follows the original Greek and Hebrew the most closely.

Summary: A MUST Read Epic Spanning Eternity
Review: If you are a lover of great literature of any kind - pick this up and start reading! What's your favorite style? You'll find it in the Bible - romance, poetry, tragedy, action, intrigue, narrative, parables, miraculous events...on and on and the best part is that it is all true. I have found that most people who "do not believe" the Bible is truthful have not read or investigated it for themselves but are merely echoing popular sentiment held by the majority of those in the liberal media and entertainment industries.If you are ready to investigate and learn, then I believe that this is probably the best study Bible available. Ryrie's commentary is outstanding and presents notes as to what the verses or the text is trying to communicate. In some cases, different commonly held understandings of the passage will be given. Ryrie also presents "A Synopsis of Bible Doctrine" that is easy to understand and essential for any new or old Christian or non-Christian who may be unfamilar with Christian beliefs (essential doctrine). Ryrie provides information regarding the "End Times" (Revelation period, end of the world, Left Behind time frame) that presents are fair accounting of the differing understandings and beliefs held by the Premillennialists, Postmillennialists, and the Amillennialists are. Also included are sections on the meaning of salavtion, archaelogy, and church history. I find this to be an excellent translation with an abundance of helpful, easily comprehended material that adds to our understanding of the Bible text itself. A MUST read!!!

Summary: Excellent Version
Review: The thoroughness of this Bible is incredible. If you read the NAS, this is the one for you. There are many maps to help to show the spread of the gospel, and also many examinations of the word with supporting verses. I would recommend this Bible to anyone - I am on here now to see if I can get a condensed version of only the outlines, and examinations. Let's hope!

Summary: The best way to grow in God's Word
Review: This Bible was a gift to me upon the reaffirmation of my faith. Understood to be the most literal translation from the ancient Hebrew and Greek texts, the New American Standard is a joy to read and to study. The Ryrie version is complete and rich with notes that help me to understand both the breadth and depth of this most precious of books and to easily comprehend the interrelatedness of passages. Many charts throughout both the Old and the New Testaments present related, significant information and passages in capsule form, but I wish the charts had their own listing in the Table of Contents. Study this Bible and you will realize just how blessed you are through the grace of God.
