Summary: Tozer at his best
Review: This book is on my short list of all-time Christian classics. I've read several of Tozer's great books and I think that this one is his best. Tozer is concise, yet deeply penetrating. Reading the last chapter, "The Sacrament of Living," was an eye-opening and life-changing experience for me. Get this book.

Summary: Prepare to have your faith challenged and life shaken!
Review: This book is probably the most spirit filled and guided work I've read in a long time. You can not help but hear the voice of God calling you to a deeper relationship with Him as you read this amazing classic. From begining to end each page is an impassioned plea for the reader to abandon "comfortable Christianity" in order to truly know God as He desires to be known. You can see right away that truly Mr. Tozer wrote this book on his knees. I found myself challenged to look at my own faith in Christ and what I should be doing with that faith in every chapter. Sometimes with weeping and confessing and always compelled to deep times of prayer and renewel in God's presence. The chapter entitled "The Blessedness of Possesing Nothing" should be required reading for anyone confessing Christ as their Lord. I was totally blown away and my life with Christ and my own pursuit of God has been forever enriched. I have read this book over and over and shared much of it with friends and family. If you are "stuck" in you walk with the Lord, let the Spirit of God use this book to shake you loose and move you onward and upward.

Summary: Wow!!!!
Review: This book is saturated in Truth! I've never read a book that had so much substance on so few pages! If I had to choose one book that I think every Christian should read (except the Bible, of course), I'd choose this book!

Summary: TRUE UNDERSTANDING OF THE CHRISTIAN LIFE
Review: This book is unlike many others in that it really tells you what the title says. This book explains in a clear and easy to understand way, the approach that we need to take and how we should posture our hearts, minds and souls to "pursue GOD". This book inescapably made me feel that coming into a deeper relationship with Christ is really something I can experience. It presents the Christian life as one which is so simple that it really reflects the character of God - a good father to us, his children. Thank you Tozer. May I recieve the heart and mind that the Lord will reveal unto me, my calling unto Him - the calling of fellowship and worship.

Summary: Gaze into the heart of God
Review: This classic written in the 1940's speaks to us today more than ever before. In the midst of our busy, hurried lives, A.W. Tozer helps us to realize that all of us, whatever our station in life, all can hear the Word of the Lord, in the silence of our own heart.

Summary: Not for the Timid
Review: This is a book that is not for those who are of the faint of heart. The burial party in Elisha's day, when fleeing from the invading Midianites, threw the corpse into Elisha's tomb. When the dead man's bones hit Elisha's dead bones the corpse sprang to life. Likewise this book's content will ignite the flame of one's cold heart.

Tozer strips away the religious forms that keep us from truly following God. In reading this book one will be instructed to do real soul searching and get to the business of seeking the face of God. When the spade work is done, as in gardening, Tozer lets us know that God is here with us. We are never nearer to God than we are right now. Our duty is to seek Him.

Summary: Back to the basics
Review: This is a wonderful book first printed in 1949 but is just as relevent today as then. He urges christians to get back to the business of seeking God. As he says, The Bible is good as a means to bring men to a knowledge in God, but not an end in itself. He reminds us of the paradox of Christianity, continually seeking what we have already found. In the seeking is the joy. As I read this book through again I am reminded of the words of James, "be doers of the word, not just hearers."
