Rating: Summary: The most anointed devotional I have ever seen. Review: I have purchased and received several daily devotionals in my life. I have never been consistent at reading any of them until now. They just did not have what I was looking for. Some of these devotionals felt like a daily chore, but I look forward to my time reading "My Utmost for His Highest." Oswald's straightforward devotion to the word shines through in the pages of this devotional. I am looking forward to reading this book year after year as I grow in my faith, and in my understanding of the Bible. It is comforting knowing this book will help in my daily walk.
Rating: Summary: 1994 Version Review: I have the hardcovered 1994 version. This is the second year I am reading it. Last year on the Sept.11 tradegy it spoke deeply to my soul as well as on the 12th. I guess that's why when I was in the book store 2yrs ago in the spiritual section and asked God to guide my hand to the book he wanted me to get he made this one of the two books. It has the date ex:( July 20) on top of each page with a quote from the bible. Then you have a couple of paragraphs that are deep and meaningful that teach you. Below that is 2 lines of a prayer request from the author. This book has been around since 1935. It's worth buying.
Rating: Summary: Continually shocks me with its relevance Review: I received this book as a Christmas present and in the month and a half that I've been reading it on a daily basis, it continues to speak to my spiritual condition in a way that's almost eerie. Not every day hits but those that do shock me back to my faith journey and remind me about where I should be focused. How could He/he (God and Oswald Chambers) know so accurately what I need to hear? As a committed Quaker (Religious Society of Friends), I have been surprised to find that "My Utmost" transcends the unfortunate Christian political divisions and meets us as followers of Christ. This book had become as central to my daily routine as brushing my teeth but far less rote!
Rating: Summary: Thank you Oswald Chambers! Review: I received this book as a gift for tutoring a student in mathematics. My daily actions have been guided by the words of Oswald Chambers in "My Utmost". I find myself reading this book at the best of times and at the worst times of my life. It is truly an inspiration.
Rating: Summary: Use it every day! Review: I use this book every day to help keep my mind focused on God. This is certainly the best Christian daily devotional on the market today. If you haven't read it, then pick one up. You won't regret it!
Rating: Summary: Don't Wait Till the New Year to Get This Review: I'm embarrassed to say I didn't know anything about Oswald Chambers until I came across this book at a reduced price and bought two copies, one for a sick friend and one for myself. What a blessing it turned out to be for both of us!The one-page essays, one for each day of the year (even February 29!), are deeply thought provoking and can be the basis for a daily meditation session. Be warned that the essays can be challenging. For example, Chambers pressures readers to consider whether we are trying to "perfect" ourselves as some kind of model Christian that God can display on a trophy shelf we imagine He has, rather than truly trying to perceive and submit to His will? Or are we interfering with God's will by trying to be an "amateur providence" who helps people through their difficulties by telling them what we think they should do rather than leading them toward Christ so He can tell them what they should to do? For those who don't want to follow the day-by-day format there are two indexes referring to the relevant essays: one by subject or key word and the other by Scripture verse. The Scripture verses are from the New King James Version translation. I HIGHLY recommend My Utmost for His Highest to Christians of all persuasions as an aid for contemplation, encouragement and spiritual growth. This is a rare devotional book that you'll want to keep and refer to or reread frequently.

Rating: Summary: The Best of the Best. Review: If it wasn't for Oswald Chamber's wife, MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST would never have been published. After Chamber's death, his wife collected some of his writings together into this devotional book. Praise God for such a woman of noble character.MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST is one of the best daily devotions around. Chambers doesn't mess around with wishy-washy, look-at-the-Jesus-in-my-pocket Christianity. Instead, he delves deep into the essence of what it means to be a Christian. Chambers knew the importance of a moment and this book is full of wisdom in living a life pressed out to the best, giving one's utmost for His highest. There isn't another daily devotion to compare.
Rating: Summary: Unbelievable insight Review: If you actually meditate on what Oswald Chambers says every day it will revolutionize your life.
