Summary: My Wife Loves It
Review: This was part of my wife's Christmas present, and she absolutely loves it. The cover is very sturdy and the binding appears to be strong enough to endure being used over many years to come.

The print is excellent for a compact Bible, and is very legible, even for someone like me who is half blind without wearing his glasses. The notes are generally very relevant and informative and are also equally legible. A note on Acts 23:34:

"The governor. Antonius Felix. The emperor Claudius had appointed him governor of Judea c. AD 52, a time when Felix's brother was the emperor's favorite minister. The brothers had formerly been slaves, then Freedmen, then high officials in the government. The historian Tacitus said of Felix, "He held the power of a tyrant with the disposition of a slave." He married three queens in succession, one of whom was Drusilla (see note on 24:24) from Cilicia. If Paul had come from a province nearby, Felix might have turned him over for trial under another's jurisdiction."

This Bible comes replete with maps and illustrations on geography, history, lineage, the life of Christ as well as a variety of other interesting topics and should be of a great help to the reader. Each of the 66 books features a summary and outline as well.

If you are looking for a study Bible that is portable, durable, and accessible, this one may fit your needs. Keep in mind that the NIV text, while generally very reliable, is not an extremely literal translation, and if you are looking for a highly literal translation, you may want to consider the ESV as a suitable candidate.
