Rating: Summary: Bible featuring notes from a trustworthy author Review: First of all, let me say that whatever Dr. Jakes says, I would trust. I've never heard him falter, in the several times Ive heard his messages. And I will say, that I am liking having a complete version of the New King James Version. But I have to say I am disappointed with the notes in the bible provided. I don't disagree with what he says, only in the stark brevity of the notes and articles provided. I haven't found any new revalation, and there is alot flowing out from the fundamentalist camp now, on the role of modern women. but it wasn't to be found in this bible. My main beef, is with his "gospel pearls" feature. You will find one on every other page throughout the bible. the comments are GREAT! But he does not back up these pearls with a corresponding verse (or verses) to back it up. If you have several study bibles, you might find this bible useful as a starting point of a new truth for you as a modern bible believing woman. but don't expect anything deep-as I did. It just isn't there. I'm sure I should have bought one of his books instead, so I believe I will go ahead and do that. But I am needing some major major answers on self-understanding gender wise, as a believer, and I did not find that in this particular edition of this bible.
Rating: Summary: Stuart Smalley's Daily Affirmations! Review: I will overlook that this attempt at spinning out parts of the Bible for women is based on the inferior NKJV translation. In the end this book does nothing except to prey on us women.
