Summary: Very in depth and easy to understand yet powerful
Review: I found this book to be very helpful on the area of prayer/intercession. There are not many books which actually touch the topics that she discusses. It is written very clearly and she gives many examples, Bible scriptures plus personal experiences of hers or others to back up what she has said."Possessing the Gates" is not a book for someone who has a sceptical or critical heart about this area. It is a book to equip and instruct those who know or feel that they have a calling or gifting in the area of intercession.

She also gives examples from modern times of how Christians have waged spiritual warfare through intercessory prayer and a step-by-step guide to becoming one who does intercessory prayer. I like how Jacobs shares relevant examples from her own life while teaching on intercessory prayer.

Summary: Sees intercession as a gift
Review: Mrs Jacobs has done a disservice to the body of Christ with this book and many have purchased it and refert to it as if it were cannonized scripture Intercession is NOT a gift for a few, it is the required Christian discipline of ALL! 1 Timothy 2:1, 2:8 Better books on this subject are Frank Damazio's "seasons of intercession" and Dutch Sheet's "intecessory prayer" among others

In fact, it is a "must read" for the latter as it contains a wealth of advice on how best to form and, for lack of a better word, manage such a group through the various stages of growth. I would highly recommend that you pair Ms. Jabobs' book with another by Dutch Sheets - "Intercessory Prayer" (ISBN #0830719008).
