Summary: Great book for beg cook, not a good guide to Jewish Holidays
Review: The explanations of the Jewish holidays are rather basic. If you are looking for in-depth information on the specific holidays, this book is not for you. However, this is an exceptional Cookbook. I especially recommend this book for someone like myself, who is in their early twenties and just starting entertain. The recipes are simple to understand and always seem to taste great. My family used to make fun of me for burning toast, but now thanks to this book, that reputation has been forgotten.

Review: The loz & cream cheese pizza was a big hit at my party last week! And the passover desserts are excellent. This book is the best for Jewish holidays. All of the recipes I have made were excellent. I never made the drediel cake as mentioned in another review, but the meals, deserts and even the punch I made were easy to make and big hits at our family gatherings.

Summary: A big disapppointment
Review: This book looks so beautiful and appealing and I see that the other reviews at amazon.com are good. However, I'm writing this a few hours before a Chanukah party, and I've just tossed out my second try at Dreidl cake, which my little boy is dying to have for our party. I've followed all the directions, but the cake falls apart after it's inverted after 15 minutes of cooling (as directed by the recipe) If it falls apart, it can't be cut into a dreidl shape. The first time I let it cool 15 minutes; the second time, 20 minutes. Now I'm going to try to let it cool completely before inverting but it may not be ready by party time. So I'm baking chocolate chip cookies as a backup. If there is some special trick to making this cake, I wish the author would have written it into the book. Whatever it is, it's not fast and it's not easy if you have to figure out the trick by trial and error.
