Rating: Summary: bardon rules crowley drows Review: I bought all three bardon books not from amazon sorry amazon.com. but i can say I.I.H is superb book(work) the language is dated but a minor point and give impression of he is real dr. strange to me but the key the is the theory and the exercises very clear, clean, and chrisp and efficient and practical. can be applied to all faith backgrounds. bardon explains the purpose behind the exercises. this is my first foray into bardon coming from a golden dawn background but I love how bardon works. crowley I have to say is overrated and unnecessarily dark and hash. my opinion i get a bad vib from crowley's work anyway I recormand bardon other two works and if you have the stamina and money golden dawn and combined the two systems of hermetics particular lrtp, qaballah, tattwas use the G.D. as a reference and resource as per usual
Rating: Summary: truly the best book on the topic, it has ended my search Review: I discovered this book in 1991 in Manila,Phillippines. I belief this is the definitive book on the hermetic sciences. Bardon presents his methodology in a clear systematic way. His writing are free from the "jargon" of other hermetic and religious traditions. His knowledge that he has revealed through his books can truly change the way we see and act in this world. It has ended my search in finding a hermetic system. I have thrown out all of my "coffee-table", and "occult dabbler" books on the occult sciences because they are pale in comparison to his books . His books are a requirement for those who are "serious" about hermetic development.
Rating: Summary: Highly misunderstood by 99% Review: I do believe this is one of the most straight forward treatments of magical practice in printed history. However, due to the fact that the author is no longer amoung the living, F. Bardon has achieved almost saintly statis!... What a shame! I have heard folks speak in hushed voices and also screaming cries, "HERE IS TRUTH." Well, I hate to bust your spiritual ballon but, no universal truth is in printed. Nor, are all "secrets" revealed in this book... However, methods to get one on the road to personal truth and insight are put forth with the pages on IIH. Work the system, it will become yours and yours alone. A few keys may help (remember German "style" magic uses a different format than it's English counterpart... ie. Golden Dawn , Wicca...) Bardon's system is Alchemically based. Astrology and more specifically it's symbols play a large part in the system's understanding. Alchemically based in the 3 principles of Salt, Sulfur and Mercury (3Worlds), 12 zodiacal symbols (4 elements in the 3 worlds). The Tree of Life and it's application (albeit a fantastic system) are not altogether compatable, in their current usage, with F. Bardon's methods. This will open doors. Become a god? These folks who say such things can't get passed themselves and are not getting anywhere with the system. Work on your own... and keep good records, asking yourselve "why" alot. Good luck.
Rating: Summary: A Book that can change your life forever!! Review: I do not think there are words enough to communicate in what high regard I hold this book. It is, quite possibly the best book on Magick that can be bought. For instance: I read it and had been putting off making a Magic Mirror for a while, though I had all the things to make it in the house. I made the fluid accumulator and the solid acumulator in one afternoon and by that evening was successfully scrying in the mirror. He also gives recipes for herbal solutions to bathe the eyes with to strengthen Astral vision etc. His advice is extremely practical and 'mumbo-jumbo' is at a minimum. His sensing exercises for really sensing and manipulating the Astral Light or Etheric Fluid are brilliant and simple. It is good for beginners or for the more advanced. A must-have for any Magical Library. There are also a couple of recent books out by disciples of his methods which are also well worth it.
Rating: Summary: slow-mage Review: I finished Step 1 in a fortnite. Step 2 I have been stuck at for more than 15 years.Yes,Bardon's IIH is top notch. I knew somebody in the late 80's was was at Step 4.
Rating: Summary: Beware! Review: I have lived with this book on my shelf since 1973 and I can say that 1) it will indeed change your life and 2) it will teach you to strengthen your imagination to such a point that you will be able to "use" it to achieve certain things--whether real or the result of self-delusion, or real in spite of being the product of self-delusion, I will not begin to say. But 3) this book does hint at, and eventually allows you to understand, the awesome reponsibility of traveling on this solitary path and 4) it will ultimately leave you wondering why such comparatively trifling achievements, at such great personal risk, are really worth the problems that one encounters in one's daily life through practicing the exercises. Consider the fact that almost everyone who advances on the road to Hermetics endures chaotic lives and risks a terrible end. Bardon himself died under mysterious circumstances, and he is just one of many. Therefore, read the biographies of other practioners first, weigh the pros and cons, ask if a controlled form of madness is your destiny, and by all means beware before using this book. You just might end up wondering if what you are seeing is "really" there, or merely the product of your imaginative training, and which "really real" is "real"? The awkward translation and the Germanic lore do not bother me in this training manual as much as they do in Bardon's more literary efforts.
Rating: Summary: A masterpiece! Review: I have read many books on the subject of Magic, and nowhere have I found the level of earnestness, accuracy, objectivity and efficiency that pervade through the pages of Bardon's teachings. Some of the physiological and psychological data may be out of date, but the training he provides the apprentice with is undoubtedly the best available. Though based on western magical tradition, Bardon's school differs from others (such as the Golden Dawn or the Wicca) in that it does not compell students to use specific beliefs or rituals. His system is founded on individual liberty of conscience, on love and consideration for others, and on personal discipline. Devoted students of his method will achieve great things.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Work Review: I have read many works on the path of Magick, this book is an excellent addition to the library of a serious student, I do agree with some reviews that say Bardon is "wordy", but I do believe that attribute adds a wonderful dimension to his works, the detailed descriptions leave very little to be "deciphered" enabling one to focus more on mastering the exercises. One who works with this book in a diligent manner will indeed see benefits from the instruction given, as i read forward to the possibilities that one can achieve through the various levels of mastery I am inspired to practice even more intensely. I would recommend this book to anyone seeking to be initiated into the Magickal path, however, I would also advise, as others have done the continued reading of works by other adepts.

Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: I read all the positive reviews here and bought this book--but I'm disappointed. This is a very expensive book for what it is, and to me it wasn't worth it. Bardon is incredibly wordy and overly complicated in his language. If you want to sit down for an easy read on the occult and Hermeticism, this is not the book to do it with. This is the kind of book where you read a page from top to bottom, and then realize that you haven't taken a single piece of information from that whole thing. I turned away from Hermeticism after buying this book. I figured that a book called 'Initiation into Hermetics' would be a comfortable introduction to Hermeticism, but that wasn't the case. If you're new to this, I wouldn't recommend starting with this book.
